DISKRIMINASI TERHADAP KELOMPOK LESBIAN DI JEPANG PADA FILM SCHOOLGIRL COMPLEX KARYA ADACHI SHIN: KAJIAN SOSIOLOGI SASTRA IAN WATT

Penelitian ini menganalisis film Schoolgirl Complex karya Adachi Shin dengan menggunakan teori Sosiologi Sastra Ian Watt. Film ini bercerita tentang kehidupan kelompok lesbian yang diperankan oleh siswa Sekolah Menengah Atas khusus perempuan di Jepang. Melalui film ini, Adachi Shin ingin menggambarkan kondisi kelompok lesbian yang masih mengalami diskriminasi di Jepang, meskipun pemerintah, media, maupun sebagian masyarakat Jepang telah memberikan dukungan kepada mereka. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui tema dan fakta cerita, konteks sosial pengarang, gambaran kehidupan kelompok homoseksual di Jepang, serta bagaimana realitas tersebut digambarkan dalam film Schoolgirl Complex. Untuk menganalisis tema dan fakta cerita, penulis menggunakan teori Robert Stanton. Kemudian, teori Sosiologi Sastra Ian Watt digunakan untuk menganalisis realitas sosial yang terjadi di Jepang mengenai kehidupan kelompok homoseksual disana, serta penggambaran kehidupan kelompok lesbian tersebut dalam film Schoolgirl Complex. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa film Schoolgirl Complex dapat menggambarkan kehidupan kelompok lesbian di Jepang. Meskipun pemerintah, media, dan sebagian masyarakat Jepang telah mendukung dan mengakui eksistensi kelompok homoseksual, namun diskriminasi terhadap kaum homoseksual di Jepang masih banyak terjadi. Dalam film ini, Adachi Shin juga mencoba untuk menyuarakan perasaan kelompok homoseksual yang masih mengalami diskriminasi.

This study analyzed the film Schoolgirl Complex by Adachi Shin using Ian Watt’s theory of Sociology of Literature. This film tells the story of the life of a lesbian group as portrayed by all-girls Senior High School students in Japan. Through this film, Adachi Shin wants to depict the condition of a lesbian group that is still discriminated against in Japan despite the support of the government, media, and some communities in Japan. This study aimed to determine the theme and facts of the story, the author’s social context, the portrayal of the life of the homosexual group in Japan, and how the reality is depicted in the film Schoolgirl Complex. To analyze the theme and facts of the story, the author used the theory by Robert Stanton. Then, Ian Watt’s theory of Sociology of Literature was used to analyze the social reality that occurs in Japan regarding the life of the lesbian group there, as well as the depiction of their life in the film Schoolgirl Complex. The results revealed that the film Schoolgirl Complex can depict the life of the lesbian group in Japan. Although the government, media, and some communities in Japan have supported and acknowledged the existence of this group, discrimination against homosexuals in Japan continues to be widespread. In this film, Adachi Shin also tries to voice the feelings of the lesbian group which still experiences discrimination.
