Pergelaran The Streets karya Teater Garasi di OzAsia Festival 2015 dipahami sebagai arena kosmopolitanisme. Di satu sisi, pergelaran The Streets menawarkan estetika yang berasal dari kehidupan urban Indonesia. Di sisi lain, The Streets digelar di hadapan penonton OzAsia yang mayoritas warga Australia yang berbeda latar belakang budaya. Karya dengan bentuk teater tari-teater imaji ini digelar di dalam ajang keterhubungan dan kesadaran global yang bernama OzAsia Festival. Penelitian kosmopolitanisme dalam pergelaran seni pertunjukan ini dilihat dari perspektif kosmopolitanisme yang spesifik, melalui analisis estetika. Kosmopolitanisme dalam konteks OzAsia Festival dibingkai dalam kerangka praktik kosmopolitanisme dalam seni pertunjukan. Melalui kerangka estetika bentuk, estetika produksi, serta pengalaman estetis, penelitian ini melihat upaya kosmopolitanisme yang dimunculkan dalam estetika pergelaran The Streets mulai dari gagasan, sampai ke praktik. Tujuan penelitian adalah untuk melihat bagaimana konstruksi kosmopolitanisme diberlangsungkan serta hal-hal yang muncul dalam persinggungan budaya di sebuah festival internasional. Pergelaran internasional dalam festival internasional ini juga dimaknai sebagai kosmopolitanisme dalam perspektif budaya dan ekonomi. The performance of Teater Garasi’s The Streets in OzAsia Festival 2015 is comprehended as arena of cosmopolitanism. On the one hand, the performance offered aesthetics of contemporary urban Indonesia. On the other hand, it was performed before OzAsia’ audience are who are mostly Australians of a different cultural background. The dance theatre-theatre of image piece is framed as an event of global interconnections and awarness – OzAsia Festival. This cosmopolitanism research looks at a specific perspective in cosmopolitanism in performing arts, through aesthetic approach. The festival context of cosmopolitanism is framed to practices of cosmopolitanism practices in performing arts. Using aesthetic framework of form, production, and aesthetic experience, this research sees attempts of cosmopolitainsm from the idea to practice. The goal of this research is to see practices of constructing of cosmopolitanism and issues raised within the cultural encounter in an international festival. The piece peformed in this international performance is comprehended as cosmopolitanism in cultural and economy perspective.
