SIMBOLISASI HEWAN DALAM DONGENG LE PETIT POUCET, PEAU D'ANE, DAN CENDRILLON KARYA CHARLES PERRAULT

Penelitian ini membahas simbolisasi hewan dalam lima dongeng Le Petit Poucet, Peau d'Ane dan Cendrillon karya Charles Perrault. Perrault terkenal dengan karya dongeng-dongengnya. Sebagian besar dongengnya menggunakan hewan baik sebagai tokoh ataupun pelengkap cerita. Hal inilah yang ingin diteliti dalam dongeng-dongeng tersebut dengan teori semiotika. Arti hewan dicari secara denotatif dan konotatif, dari hasil tersebut ditemukan dua simbol yang digambarkan hewan dalam ketiga dongeng ini yaitu simbol metafora dan simbol budaya. Dari lima belas hewan yang ada, tidak semua hewan termasuk dalam kedua simbol tersebut, ada enam hewan yang hanya menjadi pelengkap cerita. Hewan digunakan Perrault menjadi simbol sebagai sindiran terhadap manusia, yang biasanya sindiran untuk perilaku negatif. Simbolisasi hewan juga menggambarkan budaya dan nilai estetik hewan pada abad ke-17 khususnya di Prancis.

This research studies the symbolism of animal in three tales titled Le Petit Poucet, Peau d'Ane, and Cendrillon by Charles Perrault. Perrault is famous of his fairy tales. Most of his tales use animals either as a main character or a complement of the story. It is to be observed in the fairy tales with the theory of semiotic by looking for denotative and connotative meaning of animals, from these results, this research found two symbols depicted by animal in the three tales; they are metaphorical symbol and cultural symbol. From fifteen animals that described in the story, not every of them included in the three symbolism, and there are six animals that only become complement to the story. Perrault uses animal as a symbol for satire of human, especially for their negative behavior.Animal symbolism also illustrates the cultural and aesthetic value of animals in the 17th century, especially in France.
