GAYA SENI INDIA DALAM CANDI BOROBUDUR: STUDI MENGENAI GAYA SENI BUDDHIS DALAM RELIEF LALITAVISTARA

Candi Borobudur sebagai salah satu candi Buddhis termegah di Indonesia yang di dalamnya masih terdapat banyak hal untuk dibahas, salah satunya mengenai gaya seni yang diterapkan pada arca dan reliefnya. Gaya seni dalam Candi Borobudur sering dikaitkan dengan gaya seni Buddhis yang berkembang di India. Melaui relief Lalitavistara sebagai objek kajian yang mewakili, penelitian mengenai gaya seni Buddhis akan dilakukan dengan membandingkan antara gaya seni di dalam relief tersebut dengan relief-relief pada masa Buddhisme tumbuh dan berkembang di India. Tentunya relief-relief dari India yang dipilih mengandung adegan dalam kisah Lalitavistara dan adegan lain yang berhubungan dengan cerita tersebut. Penelitian ini dicapai melalui analisis terhadap variabel-variabel seperti: bentuk penggambaran dan pemahatan, perspektif dan ruang, serta komposisi di dalam relief-relief terpilih. Setelah didapatkan analisis tersebut, maka dilakukan perbandingan antara hasil analisis terhadap relief Lalitavistara Candi Borobudur dengan hasil analisis terhadap relief di India yang dibagi menjadi tiga fase berdasarkan linimasa perkembangan Buddhisme di India.

Borobudur is the one of monumental Buddhist temple has many reliefs and statues that carved all around its body, Lalitavistara is the one of these reliefs that narrated the life of Buddha. Based on theory and premise from several researcher that there are some style from India related to Buddhist art that applied in the reliefs and statues of Borobudur Temple. This research will be comparing the style of art between Borobudur through Lalitavistara reliefs as the represented object of this study and the Buddhist reliefs which contain the same story, the specific scenes in the reliefs will be selected from important story from the life of Buddha. This study will be emphasized on the analysis toward some variables, i.e. : the shape of rendering and form of depiction, perspective and dimention of space, along with composition. the analysis from style pf art in India will be classified into three phase based on the timeline of Buddhist art in India and later compared to the analysis from style of art in Borobudur. Synthesis of these comparation is the indication of Indian Buddhist art element and style in the Lalitavistara reliefs of Borobudur Temple.
