Representasi Koleksi Dari Indonesia Pada Pameran Asia Tenggara: Kebudayaan Spiritual Di Tropenmuseum, Amsterdam

Tropenmuseum adalah museum yang dibuka pemerintah Belanda pada tahun 1926 di Amsterdam. Koleksi-koleksi di museum tersebut dikumpulkan dari negara koloni Belanda, salah satunya adalah Indonesia. Pada masa sekarang, koleksi dari Indonesia dipamerkan di Pameran Asia Tenggara: Kebudayaan Spiritual, Tropenmuseum. Di antara berbagai koleksi dari Indonesia yang dipamerkan di Pameran Asia Tenggara: Kebudayaan Spiritual, tampaknya terjadi perbedaan pemaknaan koleksi di pameran tersebut dengan konteks sosial budaya koleksi tersebut berasal. Koleksi-koleksi tersebut di antaranya koleksi etnik Batak yang diperoleh van deer Tuuk dan Tweer, koleksi etnik Dayak yang diperoleh oleh Molengraaf, koleksi etnik Aceh yang diperoleh oleh Kraane, serta koleksi prasasti Indo-Jawa yang diperoleh oleh Doornbosch. Tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu mengetahui penyebab perbedaan pemaknaan koleksi dari Indonesia di Pameran Asia Tenggara: Kebudayaan Spiritual, Tropenmuseum, Amsterdam. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perbedaan pemaknaan terhadap koleksi di Tropenmuseum disebabkan oleh tiga hal, yaitu: 1. Proses pengumpulan koleksi yang dilakukan dengan cara melepaskan objek dari konteks sosial budaya objek tersebut berasal. 2. Koleksi yang dipamerkan dimaknai sesuai dengan minat dan keahlian dari kurator. 3. Koleksi yang dimaknai oleh kurator sesuai dengan paradigma keilmuan yang berkembang. Perbedaan pemaknaan terhadap koleksi yang terjadi di Tropenmuseum tentunya dapat diatasi dengan penelusuran makna koleksi di Pameran Asia Tenggara sesuai dengan konteks sosial, budaya, dan lingkungan koleksi berasal. Selanjutnya kurator juga harus memiliki pengetahuan dan pemahaman tentang koleksi yang dipamerkan. Selain itu, perlu adanya penggunaan media komunikasi visual untuk memperlihatkan konteks sosial budaya dari koleksi yang dipamerkan.

ABSTRACT Tropenmuseum is a museum which was opened to the public at 1926 in Amsterdam. The collection displayed in the exhibition in Tropenmuseum collected from Dutch colonies. One of the Dutch colonies which became the source of the collection was Indonesia. At present, collections from Indonesia were displayed in Southeast Asia Exhibition: The Spiritual Culture, Tropenmuseum. From the various collections of Indonesia exhibited in Southeast Asia Exhibition, The Spiritual Culture, was found a difference of meaning between the collection in the exhibition and their cultural and social context. These collections, Bataks artifacts were obtained by van deer Tuuk and Tweer, Dajaks artifacts was obtained by Molengraaf, Acehnese artifacts was obtained by Kraane, and the Indo-Java inscriptions was obtained by Doornbosch. The objective of this research was to know the cause of the difference meaning toward the collection from Indonesia in Southeast Asia Exhibition corner: Spiritual Culture, Tropenmuseum, Amsterdam. The result of this research showed that difference meaning of the Tropenmuseum collection based on three things: 1. The collection process conducted by removing the object from the socio-cultural context of the object. 2. Interpretation of the collection according to interests and expertise of the curator. 3. Interpretation of the collection by curator based on scientific paradigm. The different meaning of the collection in Tropenmuseum certainly could be reduced with tracing the meaning of the collections in Southeast Asia Exhibition in accordance with its social, cultural, and environmental of the collection context. Furthermore, the curator had to have knowledge and understanding of the collection displayed in. In addition, it was needed to use visual communication media to show the cultural and social context of the collection on display.
