REPRESENTASI TOKOH TARTUFFE PADA NASKAH DRAMA LE TARTUFFE KARYA MOLIERE

Penelitian ini membahas tentang representasi tokoh Tartuffe pada naskah drama Le Tartuffe karya Moliere. Representasi merupakan proses memproduksi suatu makna dari konsep dalam pikiran manusia. Konsep kemudian diwujudkan dan disampaikan kepada individu lain melalui sistem bahasa (Stuart Hall, 2003: 17). Representasi dapat dilakukan dengan cara berbicara halus dan berpakaian rapi. Cara tersebut dilakukan agar individu dapat menyampaikan pesan dari pikirannya sehingga individu yang dituju dapat menangkap pesan sesuai yang diharapkan. Munafik dan menipu merupakan sifat yang tidak baik, namun dua hal tersebut digunakan sebagai alat representasi demi memperoleh simpati dan harta. Dua sifat tersebut digunakan tokoh Tartuffe dalam naskah drama Le Tartuffe karya Moliere. Penulis akan mencari berbagai bentuk representasi serta tujuan dari representasi tokoh Tartuffe. Penulis memakai teori representasi oleh Stuart Hall untuk mencari bentuk representasi tokoh Tartuffe tersebut.

This study discusses the representation of character Tartuffe in the play script Le Tartuffe of Moliere. Representation is a process of producing a meaning of the concept of the human mind. The concept then embodied and conveyed to other individuals through the system of language (Stuart Hall, 2003: 17) Representations can be done by smooth talking and well-dressed. That method used by people to convey the message of the mind so that others can capture the intended message as expected. Hypocritical and deceptive are bad traits, but the two terms are used as a means of representation in order to obtain sympathy and wealth. These two traits are used by character of Tartuffe in the play script Le Tartuffe of Moliere. The writer will seek various forms of representation and the aim of Tartuffe's representation. The writer uses the representation theory by Stuart Hall to look for the representation of Tartuffe's character.
