Tugas Akhir ini berjudul "Sejarah Daibutsu di Dalam Kuil Todai". Penulis memilih tema ini karena Daibutsu memiliki nilai sejarah bagi umat Budha dan merupakan patung Budha terbesar yang berada di dalam kuil di Jepang. Pokok bahasan dalam tugas akhir ini adalah membahas awal sejarah pembuatan patung Daibutsu dan proses pembuatan Daibutsu di kuil Todai. Tujuan penulisan tugas akhir ini adalah untuk mengetahui hubungan antara sejarah awal masuknya agama Budha di Jepang pada zaman Nara dengan pembuatan patung Daibutsu di kuil Todai, mengetahui tentang sejarah awal pembuatan patung Daibutsu, dan mengetahui tentang proses pembuatan patung Daibutsu dalam kuil Todai. Dalam menyusun tugas akhir ini, penulis menggunakan metode deskriptif yaitu metode yang memaparkan isi data suatu ulasan objek tertentu. Pembangunan Daibutsu pada awalnya dianggap sebagai proyek ambisius kaisar. Pembangunan Daibutsu menghabiskan banyak biaya, baik materi maupun tenaga pekerjanya. Daibutsu juga pernah mengalami kebakaran dan restorasi. Proses ini menjadikan Daibutsu patung yang penuh sejarah di Jepang sampai sekarang.

This final paper is entitled "The History of Daibutsu in Todai Temple at Nara". The author choose this title because the Daibutsu is the largest indoor statue of Japan and has the historical value for Buddhists. The main ideas of this final paper are to discuss the beginning of the Daibutsu and the process of making the Daibutsu in Todai temple. The objectives of this final paper are to find the relationship between the entry of Buddha to Japan history in Nara era and making of the Daibutsu in Todai temple, to find the history of making the Daibutsu, and to find the process of making the Daibutsu in Todai temple. To accomplish this final paper, the author decided to use the descriptive method which means to describe the main point of something. The making of Daibutsu, firstly, was the Emperor's desired project. This project spent many things, which were material and energy. Furthermore, Daibutsu was devastated by a blaze and was restored then. Those processes make the Daibutsu as a valued statue in Japan until now.
