Penggunaan
account Instagram. Analisis penelitian menggunakan Teori Dramaturgi Erving
Goffman, Selective Self-Presentation Joseph Walther, teori identitas
The
use of Instagram second accounts has become increasingly
prevalent among university students as a digital space that serves different
functions from first account accounts. This study aims to analyze the
use of second accounts, the construction of users' identities, and the
role of second accounts as digital archives in the formation of
collective memory. This study employed a qualitative method with a digital
ethnography approach through in-depth interviews with Sociology students at
Universitas Gadjah Mada who actively use Instagram second
accounts. The analysis was guided by Erving Goffman's Dramaturgy Theory,
Joseph Walther's Selective Self-Presentation theory, Sherry Turkle's
theory of digital identity, and Maurice Halbwachs' theory of Collective Memory.
The
findings reveal that first account accounts are primarily used as a more
formal and curated space for self-presentation, whereas second accounts
provide a more flexible space for expressing different aspects of the self to a
more limited audience. The identities presented on second accounts
remain socially constructed through users' selective disclosure of information.
Furthermore, second accounts function as digital archives that preserve
users' experiences, activities, and social relationships. These digital
archives contribute to the formation of collective memory through
documentation, Stories, Highlights, and symbolic elements such as songs,
captions, and inside jokes that evoke shared experiences and memories.
