Background : Higher education institutions are strategic entities responsible for preparing competent human resources through structured learning processes. Within higher health education, particularly nursing, the interaction between educators and students hold a crucial role. A nursing care plan is defined as a quality personal service, focused on identifying and fulfilling health needs. It is an essential component of the healthcare service system aimed at comprehensively meeting patient needs, starting from patient assessment up to the evaluation stage, which requires profesional capability. To achieve these competency standards, students not only need repeated practice but also proper guidance and pedagogical support from lecturers or instructors, one of which is through the provision of structured feedback. Feedback in nursing education is frequently delivered non constructively merely as a form of evaluation and is often unspecific, judgmental, or focused solely on final evaluations without offering in depth explanations regarding steps of improvement. Therefore, a systematic review based studi is important to gather existing evidence, identify the most effective feedback methods, and provide evidence based recommendations for educators.
Aims : To systematically review evidence regarding the impact of feedback in nursing education on improving nursing students competence in the nursing process.
Method : The type of research used was a systematic review. The methodological quality assessment of the studies utilized the Medical Education Research Study Quality Instrument (MERSQI). The systematic review quality process used The Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta Analyses (PRISMA) 2020 guidelines with two reviewers. PICO (Population, Intervention, Comparison, Outcome) was applied. A systematic literature search was conducted across four international database : Pubmed, Scopus, Eric, EBSCOhost, and ScienceDirect (2010-2025) using Boolean strategies. Study selection involved title screening and full text review using Rayyan.
Result : Three studies were included in the final analysis. Despite differences in study designs and research focus, all studies consistently demonstrated that constructive feedback plays a vital role in enhancing nursing students performance in developing and implementing the nursing process. Constructive feedback improves the quality of nursing care plans and documentation, encourages clinical reasoning and reflective learning, and supports the development of professional competence. Guidance, clinical supervision, and structured feedback were identified as key educational strategies contributing to the improvement of students clinical performance and overall nursing care quality.
Conclusion : The analysis concludes that feedback delivered Cleary, specifically, timely, and, continuously can help students recognize performance gaps, engage in self reflection, swiftly, correct errors, and strengthen critical thinking and clinical reasoning skills, thereby improving the quality of nursing care plan writing.
