Struktur Naratif dan Fokalisasi Internal dalam Mengungkap Pengalaman Tokoh pada Novel Different Karya Ima T. Lestari

Penelitian ini membahas struktur naratif dan fokalisasi internal dalam novel Different karya Ima T. Lestari. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mendeskripsikan struktur naratif serta fokalisasi internal dalam mengungkap pengalaman tokoh. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif dengan pendekatan naratologi Gérard Genette. Data penelitian berupa kutipan narasi, dialog, dan peristiwa dalam novel yang menunjukkan aspek waktu penceritaan, suara naratif, dan fokalisasi internal. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa struktur naratif dalam novel Different tidak disajikan secara kronologis penuh, tetapi menggunakan pola anakroni melalui analepsis dan prolepsis. Aspek durasi memperlihatkan penggunaan scene, pause, summary, dan ellipsis untuk mengatur kecepatan penceritaan, sedangkan aspek frekuensi menunjukkan adanya representasi tunggal, anaforis, iteratif, dan pengulangan. Pada aspek suara naratif, novel ini didominasi oleh narator ekstradiegetik-homodiegetik melalui sudut pandang orang pertama, tetapi juga menghadirkan narator ekstradiegetik-heterodiegetik pada bagian tertentu untuk menyampaikan informasi umum. Selain itu, novel Different menggunakan fokalisasi internal bervariasi melalui perpindahan perspektif tokoh Noura, Alika, dan Gugun. Pergantian fokaliser tersebut memungkinkan pembaca memahami pengalaman subjektif tokoh dalam menghadapi berbagai peristiwa dan konflik cerita. Dengan demikian, struktur naratif dan fokalisasi internal berperan penting dalam membangun cerita yang kompleks, personal, dan berlapis.

This study discusses narrative structure and internal focalization in the novel Different by Ima T. Lestari. The purpose of this study is to describe the narrative structure and internal focalization in revealing the characters’ experiences. This research employs a descriptive qualitative method with Gérard Genette’s narratological approach. The data consist of narrative excerpts, dialogues, and events in the novel that indicate aspects of narrative time, narrative voice, and internal focalization. The results show that the narrative structure of Different is not presented in a fully chronological order, but uses anachrony through analepsis and prolepsis. The aspect of duration shows the use of scene, pause, summary, and ellipsis to regulate the pace of narration, while the aspect of frequency shows singular, anaphoric, iterative, and repeating representations. In terms of narrative voice, the novel is dominated by an extradiegetic-homodiegetic narrator through the first-person point of view, but it also presents an extradiegetic-heterodiegetic narrator in certain parts to convey general information. In addition, Different uses variable internal focalization through the shifting perspectives of Noura, Alika, and Gugun. This shift of focalizers allows readers to understand the characters’ subjective experiences in facing various events and conflicts in the story. Thus, narrative structure and internal focalization play an important role in constructing a complex, personal, and layered story.
