Kepribadian Tokoh dalam Keluarga Disharmonis pada Novel Malam Seribu Jahanam Karya Intan Paramaditha

Novel Malam Seribu Jahanam karya Intan Paramaditha dipilih sebagai objek material penelitian ini karena novel tersebut secara jelas menampilkan gambaran mengenai kepribadian tokoh yang hidup dalam lingkungan keluarga disharmonis. Adapun, tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui keterkaitan antara pola hubungan keluarga disharmonis dengan pembentukan kepribadian tokoh. Untuk itu, penelitian ini menggunakan dua teori sebagai alat analisisnya, yaitu teori Sosiologi Keluarga dan juga menggunakan teori Psikologi Sastra Sigmund Freud. Selain itu, metode penelitian yang digunakan berupa metode analisis deskriptif. Dengan menggunakan metode tersebut, beberapa data yang telah diperoleh dianalisis dengan teori Sosiologi Keluarga dan teori Psikologi Sastra sehingga dapat diketahui bahwa keadaan keluarga disharmonis memengaruhi pembentukan kepribadian tokoh dalam novel MSJ. Hasil pembahasan penelitian ini menunjukkan gambaran keluarga disharmonis dalam novel MSJ mengarah pada pola hubungan keluarga disosiatif yang terwujud dalam tiga bentuk interaksi ketiga tokoh, yaitu kompetisi, kontravensi, dan konflik. Adapun, dapat dipahami bahwa interaksi disosiatif yang terjadi dalam hubungan tiga tokoh dalam novel MSJ memicu timbulnya pergumulan-pergumulan dalam diri ketiga tokoh. Dengan teori Psikologi Sastra, terjadinya pergumulan-pergumulan tersebut menunjukkan indikasi adanya konflik antara id dengan superego yang berusaha direkonsiliasi oleh ego ketiga tokoh. Berdasarkan pembahasan penelitian ini, terjadi mekanisme pertahanan ego berupa represi, sublimasi, dan rasionalisasi. Dengan begitu, dapat dipahami bahwa ego ketiga tokoh cenderung mematuhi larangan superego sehingga id ketiga tokoh tidak selalu terpenuhi. Oleh karenanya, dapat disimpulkan bahwa lingkungan keluarga disharmonis memicu terbentuknya kepribadian tokoh yang cenderung mengarah pada kepribadian normatif.

The novel Malam Seribu Jahanam by Intan Paramaditha was chosen as the object of this research because the novel clearly displays a picture of the personality of a character who lives in a disharmonious family environment. The purpose of this study is to determine the relationship between the pattern of disharmonious family relationships and the formation of the character's personality. For this reason, this study uses two theories as analytical tools, namely the theory of Family Sociology and also using Sigmund Freud's theory of Literary Psychology. In addition, the research method used is a descriptive analysis method. By using this method, some of the data that has been obtained is analyzed using the theory of Family Sociology and the theory of Literary Psychology so that it can be seen that the state of disharmonious families influences the formation of the character's personality in the MSJ novel. The results of the discussion of this study show that the picture of a disharmonious family in the MSJ novel leads to a pattern of dissociative family relationships that are manifested in three forms of interaction between the three characters, namely competition, controversy, and conflict. It can be understood that the dissociative interactions that occur in the relationship between the three characters in the MSJ novel trigger struggles within the three characters. With the theory of Literary Psychology, the occurrence of these struggles indicates an indication of a conflict between the id and the superego that the ego of the three characters tries to reconcile. Based on the discussion of this study, there is an ego defense mechanism in the form of repression, sublimation, and rationalization. Thus, it can be understood that the ego of the three characters tends to obey the prohibition of the superego so that the id of the three characters is not always fulfilled. Therefore, it can be concluded that a disharmonious family environment triggers the formation of the character's personality which tends towards a normative personality.
