Genre Novel Mahajana karya Gigrey Ditinjau dari Relasi Aksesibilitas

Dalam menentukan suatu genre karya sastra, landasan yang digunakan masih sering simpang-siur. Maksud dari landasan tersebut terkait dengan batas-batas yang digunakan. Batas-batas yang tidak jelas untuk menentukan suatu genre karya sastra berimplikasi pada definisi-definisi yang beragam pada genre itu sendiri. Pada tahun 2024, Penerbit Akad Media Cakrawala menerbitkan novel yang dilabeli sebagai fiksi sejarah atau historical fiction. Novel tersebut berjudul Mahajana karya Gigrey atau biasa dipanggil Gigi atau Kagi. Novel tersebut diterbitkan setelah sebelumnya diunggah dan populer di wattpad. Gigrey menulis novel tersebut dengan memanfaatkan narasi besar kerajaan Majapahit pada masa pemerintahan Hayam Wuruk. Pelabelan fiksi sejarah terhadap novel tersebut yang tersebar pada parateks tampak kabur, sebab batas-batas yang tidak pasti. Penelitian ini menawarkan “alternatif” dalam meninjau genre karya sastra. Teori yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah teori Possible World yang dikembangkan oleh Marie Laure-Ryan. Teori tersebut mempunyai landasan yang tetap untuk mengklasifikasikan genre, yaitu dengan konsep relasi aksesibilitas antara dunia aktual tekstual (textual actual world) dan dunia aktual (actual world). Penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif dengan metodologi intertekstual.  Hasil dan temuan penelitian ini adalah dari 13 genre yang dikemukakan oleh Marie-Laure Ryan, novel Mahajana karya Gigrey masuk ke dalam genre historical fabulation, alih-alih historical fiction atau fiksi sejarah sebagaimana yang digaungkan.

In determining the genre of a literary work, the basis used is often confusing. The purpose of the foundation is the boundaries used. The unclear boundaries that define a genre of literature have implications for the various definitions of a genre. In 2024, Akad Media Cakrawala Publishers published a novel labeled as historical fiction. The novel is called Mahajana by Gigrey or commonly called Gigi or Kagi. The novel was published after it was previously uploaded and popular on Wattpad. Gigrey wrote the novel by utilizing the grand narrative of the Majapahit kingdom during the reign of Hayam Wuruk. The historical fiction labeling of the novel, which is scattered in the paratexts, is blurred because of the uncertain boundaries. This research offers an “alternative” way of looking at literary genres. The theory used in this research is the Possible World theory developed by Marie-Laure Ryan. The theory has a fixed foundation for classifying genres, which is the concept of the accessibility relation between the textual and actual worlds. This research is a qualitative research with intertextual methodology.  The results and findings of this research are from 13 genres proposed by Marie-Laure Ryan, Gigrey's Mahajana novel falls into the genre of historical fabulation, instead of historical fiction or historical fiction as it is echoed.
