‘PROPOS RACISTE’ DALAM PEMBERITAAN MENGENAI RASISME TERHADAP PEMAIN SEPAK BOLA KETURUNAN IMIGRAN DALAM TIMNAS PRANCIS PADA MEDIA L’ÉQUIPE DAN LE FIGARO

Penelitian ini membahas mengenai wacana pemberitaan oleh media L’Équipe dan Le Figaro mengenai insiden rasisme terhadap pemain keturunan imigran dalam skuad tim nasional sepak bola Prancis selama Fifa World Cup 2022. Penerapan teori analisis wacana kritis model Teun A. Van Dijk (1997) digunakan untuk menganalisis wacana yang dibentuk oleh kedua media. Melalui identifikasi dan analisis konteks sosial, struktur teks, dan kognisi sosial, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat bagaimana paradigma sosial masyarakat yang turut membangun rasisme, bahasa media ketika mereproduksi insiden rasisme, sehingga mampu berkontribusi dalam memengaruhi konstruksi sosial dan persepsi negatif terhadap pemain imigran tersebut. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode kualitatif. Objek penelitian menggunakan arsip berita pada media daring L’Équipe dan Le Figaro berupa artikel yang membahas insiden rasisme pada pemain imigran tim nasional Prancis pada periode Fifa World Cup 2022 yang terbit pada Desember 2022. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, paradigma mengenai insiden rasisme tidak terlepas rentetan peristiwa yang saling terkait, mulai dari sejarah, kebijakan publik yang kontroversial, hingga perilaku suporter. Berita yang dipublikasi menunjukkan sikap media yang memiliki perbedaan arah dan masih membuat posisi pemain imigran sebagai subjek atau aktor yang ‘kontroversial’. Selain itu, media masih mengabaikan suara korban (pemain imigran), sehingga menciptakan ketidakberdayaan dalam melawan insiden ini. Melihat dampaknya, masyarakat masih menormalisasi stereotip negatif dan perlakuan etno-rasial terhadap pemain imigran, serta menggambarkan standar ‘ganda’ dalam memaknai identitas nasional Prancis.

This study discusses the discourse in the media, L’Équipe and Le Figaro, regarding incidents of racism against players from immigrant backgrounds in the French national football team following the 2022 FIFA World Cup. The application of Teun A. Van Dijk’s critical discourse analysis theory (1997) is used to analyze the discourse of the two media. Through the identification and analysis of social context, text structure, and social cognition, the objective is to understand how paradigm social contributes to the construction of racism, how media terms reproduce the incidents of racism, and how media influences the social construction and negative perceptions of immigrant players. By using a qualitative method, the objects of study are news archives from the online media L’Équipe and Le Figaro, specifically articles discussing incidents of racism against immigrant players in the French national team published in December 2022. Based on the research findings, the paradigm of racism incidents is interlinked with a series of related events, from historical events, controversial public policies to supporter behavior. The result reveals the media’s differing stances and still portrays immigrant players as ‘controversial’ subjects or actors. Moreover, the media continues to overlook the voices of the victims (immigrant players), creating a sense of powerlessness to stand against these incidents. Consequently, society continues to normalize negative stereotypes and ethno-racial of immigrant players, reflecting a ‘double standard’ in interpreting French national identity.
