Makna dalam Sosialitas Neo-Tribes dan Proyek Identitas Refleksif di Era Modernitas Lanjut: Studi Terhadap Kaum Muda di Live Performance Musik Punk

Pada era modernitas lanjut, kaum muda memperoleh refleksivitas dan fluiditas yang lebih besar dibandingkan era sebelumnya. Hal ini berimplikasi pada keanggotaan terhadap subkultur punk yang terbentuk tidak hanya berdasarkan latar belakang kelas sosial tetapi oleh selera, estetika, dan afektivitas. Berbeda dibandingkan era sebelumnya, mereka juga tidak terikat pada skena lokal punk melainkan mengaktualisasikan preferensinya terhadap musik punk dengan melakukan kegiatan konsumsi seperti menjadi concert-goers pada live performance musik punk. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode etnografi secara multi-sited pada live performance musik punk yang diadakan di Bali dan mewawancarai empat informan yang menjadi concert-goers musik punk. Hasil temuan dari penelitian ini adalah concert-goers di live performance musik punk mengalami transendensi diri yang melampaui lintasan individu. Meskipun mulanya individu terindividualisasi dan didasari oleh stimulasi-stimulasi internal tetapi melalui sosialitas baru yang terbentuk di arena live performance mereka lalu memperoleh makna secara afektif yang terwujud dalam semangat kolektif dan rasa memiliki serta membekas pada waktu yang panjang. Kondisi ini kemudian menjadi mekanisme yang melandasi proyeksi identitas dan pembentukan narasi dirinya di era modernitas lanjut. Di luar arena live performance, mereka juga membangun narasi yang berkesinambungan untuk menegaskan identitasnya pada praktik rutin sehari-hari. Selain itu, pengalaman sebagai concert-goers turut berimplikasi pada proyeksi karier subkultur dari individu di masa depan.

In the era of late modernity, youth gain greater reflexivity and fluidity compared to the previous era. This has implications for membership in the punk subculture formed not only based on social class background but also by taste, aesthetics, and affectivity. Unlike the previous era, they are not tied to the local punk scene but actualize their preferences for punk music by carrying out consumption activities such as becoming concert-goers at punk music' live performance. This study uses a multi-sited ethnographic method at punk music' live performances held in Bali and interviewed four informants who were concert-goers. The findings of this study are that concert-goers at punk music' live performance experience self-transcendence that goes beyond individual trajectories. Although initially individuals are individualized and based on internal stimulations, through the new sociality formed in the live performance arena they gain affective meaning that is manifested in a collective spirit and sense of belonging and leaves a lasting impression. This condition then becomes a mechanism that underlies the projection of identity and the formation of self-narratives in the era of late modernity. Outside the live performance, they also build a continuous narrative to affirm their identity in daily routine practices. In addition, the experience as concert-goers in punk music' live performances also has implications for the projection of the individual's subcultural career in the future.
