Representasi Determinisme Teknologi dalam Film Biopik: Analisis Semiotika Roland Barthes pada Film Oppenheimer

Penelitian ini menganalisis film Oppenheimer karya Christopher Nolan dengan pendekatan determinisme teknologi dan semiotika Roland Barthes. Fokus utamanya adalah representasi teknologi nuklir sebagai kekuatan yang mengubah sosial, politik, dan etika. Dengan menggunakan pendekatan semiotika, penelitian ini mengidentifikasi makna denotatif, konotatif, dan mitos dalam narasi film. Analisis menunjukkan bahwa film ini menguatkan konsep determinisme teknologi, di mana teknologi nuklir digambarkan sebagai entitas otonom yang membentuk sejarah manusia. Film ini juga mengeksplorasi dilema etis dan tanggung jawab moral ilmuwan dalam pengembangan teknologi canggih. Studi ini mengenali elemen kunci determinisme teknologi dalam film, seperti teknologi sebagai kekuatan utama, dampak luas dan tidak terkendali, serta kemampuannya untuk mengubah struktur kekuasaan. Selain itu, film ini juga merefleksikan hubungan kompleks antara sains dan politik dalam konteks perkembangan teknologi. Film Oppenheimer tidak hanya sebagai narasi historis, tetapi juga sebagai refleksi kritis terhadap peran teknologi dalam membentuk masyarakat modern dan pentingnya mempertimbangkan implikasi etis dari kemajuan ilmiah.

This research analyzes Christopher Nolan's film "Oppenheimer" through the lenses of technological determinism and Roland Barthes' semiotics. The primary focus is on the representation of nuclear technology as a force that impacts social, political, and ethical dimensions. Utilizing a semiotic approach, this study identifies the denotative, connotative, and mythical meanings within the film's narrative. The analysis demonstrates the film's reinforcement of the concept of technological determinism, portraying nuclear technology as an autonomous entity shaping human history. The film also explores the ethical dilemmas and moral responsibilities of scientists in the development of advanced technology. Key elements of technological determinism in the film are recognized, highlighting technology as a primary driving force with wide-ranging and uncontrollable impacts, capable of altering power structures. Additionally, the film reflects on the complex relationship between science and politics in the context of technological advancements. "Oppenheimer" serves not only as a historical narrative but also as a critical reflection on the role of technology in shaping modern society and the importance of considering the ethical implications of scientific progress.
