Pemberontakan Metafisik dan Historis pada Novel La Religieuse Karya Denis Diderot

Penelitian ini menganalisis pemberontakan yang dilakukan oleh tokoh di dalam novel La Religieuse karya Denis Diderot. Topik mengenai pemberontakan merupakan tema utama novel ini yang tergambar dari aksi tokoh Suzanne dan Suster Christine. Teori pemberontakan Albert Camus digunakan untuk mengkaji bentuk atau jenis pemberontakan yang terjadi dan untuk mengetahui sebesar apa dampak pemberontakan tersebut. Kemudian, teori semiotika Roland Barthes digunakan untuk menjelaskan tanda-tanda pemberontakan yang ditunjukkan baik secara eksplisit maupun implisit. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif. Pengambilan data dilakukan dengan menyertakan kutipan dialog atau monolog yang memiliki unsur pemberontakan. Hasil penelitian memperlihatkan bahwa pemberontakan kedua tokoh dilakukan karena tujuan yang berlawanan. Pemberontakan Suzanne pada dasarnya terjadi atas prinsip keadilan dan kebebasan. Sementara itu, pemberontakan oleh Suster Christine bertujuan menegaskan kekuasaannya sebagai pemimpin sebuah institusi. 

This research analyzes the revolt carried out by the characters in the novel La Religieuse by Denis Diderot. The topic of revolt is the main theme of this novel, illustrated through the actions of the characters Suzanne and Sister Christine. Albert Camus' theory of revolt is used to examine the forms or types of revolt that occur and to determine the extent of the impact of these rebellions. Additionally, Roland Barthes’ semiotic theory is used to explain the signs of revolt that are shown both explicitly and implicitly. The research method employed is descriptive qualitative. Data collection was conducted by including quotes from dialogues or monologues that contain elements of revolt. The results of the study show that the revolts of the two characters were carried out for opposing purposes. Suzanne's revolt is fundamentally based on the principles of justice and freedom. Meanwhile, Sister Christine's revolt aims to assert her power as the leader of an institution.
