Body discipline is expressed by Foucault (1995) as a mechanism that forces a subject to achieve a certain goal that is collectively agreed upon. The format of discipline can be normative and has the power to suppress or control a population. However, in addition to boosting a subject's performance, discipline is also prone to limiting the subject's space for movement, resulting in oppression.
Based on this problem, this research was conducted to analyse the body discipline that occurs along with the forms of resistance that arise. This issue was studied using the descriptive qualitative method. The data for this study were obtained from four Astérix comic series, namely Astérix et Cléopâtre (1965), La Rose et le Glaive (1991), Astérix Latraviata (2001) and La Fille de Vercingétrorix (2019). The study found that there are practices of disciplining the body identified into four categories of body disciplining mechanisms according to Foucault; surveillance, punishment, normalisation and micro-power. Furthermore, the resistance format of the efforts to subjectivise women was also found in the data processing and became a further focus of this research.
