Domba-Domba Revolusi by Bambang Soelarto set during the war in 1946 tells the story of a group
trapped in a guesthouse. This group comprises women who own inns, poets,
politicians, traders and adventurers. In an urgent war, they chose to stay in
the Inn to take refuge from the Colonial Soldiers. The construction of national
space in the drama Domba-Domba Revolusi is depicted in layers and has a
metonymic and metaphorical relationship. Ruang Pertama, which is at the
bottom layer and is directly in contact with the experiences of each character
in the drama, is Ruang Losmen. Ruang Kota, which is often
referred to as Kota Tengah, is called Ruang Kedua. The rest is
the Ruang Ketiga, a more expansive space, and only briefly touched on
namely ruang negara terjajah (the space of the colonized
country; Indonesia). In addition, this research uses Sara Upstone's spatial
political theory, especially Nation Space, as a theoretical approach to find
out, describe and study how the construction of national space and the forms of
nationalism implied by national reach in the drama of Domba-Domba Revolusi, as well as explaining the postcolonial context,
which allows the construction of space and nationalism to reveal the ideology,
position, identity, polemics, political dynamics and existence of Bambang
Soelarto as a drama writer in his glorious era. In this case, Soelarto's
nationalism becomes postcolonial and contains universal humanistic values
because the idea itself bears assumption that oppression was not only carried
out by the Dutch (Colonizers/Colonials) but also by the Natives themselves. In
conclusion, Bambang Soelarto, in the history of Indonesian literature and the
nation, was a literary figure (playwright) who sided with the Military
(Military principles of the Revolutionary era in the face of Colonial
Expansion) and humanism universal of Cultural Manifesto group. (Manikebu).
Throughout his drama, Domba-Domba
Revolusi,
they witnessed the oppression and was carried out by their countrymen (the
Indonesian people) - and shows the elements of religious nationalism ideology
shown through the existence of female characters.
