KONSTRUKSI KARYA POPULER:KAJIAN GENRE TERHADAP ENOLA HOLMES

Genre dalam karya sastra memiliki formulasi konvensi dan invensi yang dibuat khusus untuk pembacanya. Salah satu genre populer dalam dunia sastra adalah genre detektif. Genre detektif merupakan genre yang berkembang dari mitologi kekerasan dan misteri yang berfokus pada pemecahan kasus misteri oleh detektif. Salah satu karya terkenal dari genre detektif adalah Sherlock Holmes. Sherlock Holmes sangat mewakili penggambaran formulasi genre detektif dengan karakter laki-laki yang hebat, pintar, dan bertalenta dan hal ini dipaparkan dalam setiap adaptasinya. Namun, salah satu spin-off dari Sherlock yang menarik perhatian publik dan menjadi populer adalah Enola Holmes. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat konstruksi popularitas Enola Holmes dengan kaitannya pada formulasi genre detektif. Demi memenuhi tujuan ini, peneliti menggunakan teori genre oleh Cawelti serta didukung berbagai teori lain seperti teori fiksi populer milik Gelder dan artikel pendukung lainnya. Lebih lanjut, metode penelitian genre digunakan sebagai alat bantu mendalami proses penelitian agar berfokus pada formulasi budaya dan social yang mengkonstruksi pembentukkan genre. Penelitian ini mengungkapkan bahwa konstruksi genre Enola Holmes mengikuti kaidah genre detektif dalam formula konvensi. Konvensi cerita Enola Holmes pada novel AEHM:TCMM dan film Enola Holmes tahun 2020 menunjukkan bahwa Enola Holmes mengikuti formulasi genre klasikal detektif layaknya Sherlock Holmes, oleh karena itu karya ini popular. Namun, formulasi invensi Enola Holmes yang menunjukkan sisi emosional dan isu perempuan yang dibungkus erat oleh misteri kasus membuat Enola Holmes menjadi lebih terkenal karena pembaca melihat adanya kesamaan dan merasa detektif Enola Holmes menyampaikan sisi dan isu misteri yang mengikuti perkembangan budaya dan sosial pada abad 21.

Genres in literary works have formulated conventions and inventions that are made for their readers. One of the most popular genres in literature is the detective genre. The detective genre is a genre that evolved from the mythology of violence and mystery that focuses on the solving of mysteries by detectives. One of the most famous works of the detective genre is Sherlock Holmes. Sherlock Holmes is very representative of the formulation of the detective genre with a great, smart, and talented male character and this is portrayed in every adaptation. However, one of the spin-offs of Sherlock that attracted public attention and became popular is Enola Holmes. This study aims to examine the genre construction of Enola Holmes� popularity in relation to the formulation of detective genre. In order to fulfil this purpose, the researcher used Cawelti's genre theory and other theories such as Gelder's popular fiction theory and other supporting articles. Furthermore, the genre research method was used as a tool to deepen the research process in order to focus on the cultural and social formulations that construct genre formation. This research revealed that the construction of the Enola Holmes genre follows the rules of the detective genre in the convention formula. The conventions of Enola Holmes' story in the novel AEHM:TCMM and the film Enola Holmes in 2020 show that Enola Holmes follows the classical detective genre formulation as described in Sherlock Holmes, therefore, this work is popular. However, the formulation of Enola Holmes' invention that shows the emotional side and women's issues wrapped tightly by the mystery of the case makes Enola Holmes more popular because readers see similarities and feel that Enola Holmes' detective conveys the side and issue of mystery that follows cultural and social developments in the 21st century
