Manbiki Kazoku merupakan sebuah film karya Hirokazu Kore-eda yang menggambarkan kehidupan keluarga pengutil di Jepang. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif kualitatif yang bertujuan untuk melihat sejauh mana film Manbiki Kazoku mencerminkan kehidupan keluarga pengutil di Jepang pada tahun 2018 menggunakan teori sosiologi sastra Ian Watt. Dalam penelitian ini film Manbiki Kazoku menjadi data teks sedangkan data etnografi diambil dari biografi pengarang, hasil wawancara, artikel berita, jurnal, ataupun instrumen lain

Manbiki Kazoku is a film by Hirokazu Kore-eda about the life of shoplifting family in Japan. This research is a quantitative descriptive study that aims to see the extent of life of a shoplifting family in 2018 which Manbiki kazoku's film reflects using sociological literature by Ian Watt. In this study, Manbiki Kazoku film is used as text data while the ethnography data were taken from the author's biography, interviews, news articles, journals or any other instruments that related with the theme and topics of this study. The Sociological literature theory by Ian Watt is used to find the relation between social reality presented in the Manbiki Kazoku film and the real social relality. The results of this study showed that there are many social problems that reflect the life of a shoplifter family in Japan in Manbiki kazoku's film. Some of things that are reflected include; the life of poor families in Japan, the shoplifters in Japan, where shoplifting occurs, item stolen, shoplifting techniques, and finally follow-up shoplifting.
