PERFORMATIVITAS GENDER TOKOH KIM BOK JOO DAN PENGARUHNYA DALAM DRAMA KOREA WEIGHTLIFTING FAIRY KIM BOK JOO (YEOKDOYOJEONG KIM BOK JOO)

Penelitian ini menganalisis tentang apa saja item performativitas gender maskulin, item harapan sosial dan item performativitas gender feminin serta pengaruh performativitas terhadap kehidupan tokoh Kim Bok Joo dalam drama Korea Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo (WFKBJ). Drama WFKBJ merupakan drama yang ditayangkan dalam saluran televisi Korea MBC yang dirilis tanggal 16 November 2016 dan tayang hingga 11 Januari 2017. Analisis penelitian ini menggunakan Teori KGRII (Korea Gender Role Identity Inventory) oleh Lee Byoung Sook, Kim Myung Ae, dan Koh Hyo Jung mengenai item gender maskulin, harapan sosial, dan feminin masyarakat Korea dan teori performativitas oleh Judith Butler yang menjelaskan bahwa identitas gender merupakan sebuah produk dari performativitas atau imitasi gender yang dilakukan individu secara berulang-ulang, sehingga gender dinilai tidak solid. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif. Berdasarkan analisis melalui data dialog antar tokoh dan monolog tokoh dalam drama WFKBJ, pertama, ditemukan 9 item performativitas gender maskulin dari 15 item identitas gender maskulin menurut KGRII. Item maskulin yang dimiliki Kim Bok Joo adalah (1) kemampuan kuat melaksanakan suatu pekerjaan; (2) percaya diri mampu melakukan sesuatu; (3) memiliki keberanian; (4) dinamis; (5) mempunyai daya tarik yang kuat; (6) memiliki harapan dan ambisi; (7) berjiwa petualang yang tinggi; dan (8) sangat bangga terhadap diri sendiri; (9) kekuatan fisik yang kuat. Kedua, ditemukan 4 item dari 15 item harapan sosial menurut KGRII yaitu (1) hangat; (2) memberikan pertolongan kepada orang lain; (3) berbakti kepada orang tua; dan (4) ulet. Ketiga, ditemukan 8 item performativitas gender feminin dari 15 item identitas gender feminin menurut KGRII. Sebelas item tersebut adalah (1) sangat sentimental; (2) bersikap sok imut; (3) menyukai sesuatu yang indah; (4) menyukai kisah romantis; (5) cermat,teliti; (6) cemburuan; (7) sensitif; dan (8) banyak bicara. Performativitas dualitas gender yang dilakukan oleh Kim Bok Joo tersebut kemudian berpengaruh terhadap kehidupannya seperti mendapat hukuman dari orang lain berupa penghinaan dan stigmatisasi, juga mendapat hukuman dari dalam dirinya yang terbelenggu oleh gender biner hingga mengalami konflik identitas gender dan merasa tidak aman. Performativitas yang ditemukan dalam drama tersebut membuktikan bahwa ekspresi gender tidak mutlak dimiliki oleh suatu identitas gender tertentu. Selain itu, ekspresi gender feminin dan maskulin yang dilakukan secara berulang-ulang serta berproses dari waktu ke waktu menunjukkan bahwa gender itu tidak stabil dan dapat mengalami perubahan.

This study analyzes what are the masculine gender performativity items, social desirability items and feminine gender performativity items as well as the influence of performativity on the life of Kim Bok Joo character in the Korean drama Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo (WFKBJ). Drama WFKBJ is a drama that aired on the Korean television channel MBC which was released on November 16, 2016 and aired until January 11, 2017. This research analysis uses the KGRII (Korea Gender Role Identity Inventory) theory by Lee Byoung Sook, Kim Myung Ae, and Koh Hyo Jung. Regarding the items of masculine gender, social desirability, and femininity of Korean society and the performativity theory by Judith Butler which explains that gender identity is a product of the performativity or gender imitation that individuals do repeatedly, so that gender is not considered solid. This research use descriptive qualitative approach. Based on the analysis through dialogue data between characters and character monologues in the WFKBJ drama, from 15 items, 9 items of masculine gender performativity were found, namely (1) driving; (2) confident; (3) brave; (4) initiative; (5) active; (6) powerful; (7) ambitious; (8) adventurous; and (9) physically strong. 4 items from 15 items of social desirability also found, namely (1) warm; (2) helping others; (3) respectful to elders; and (4) diligent. In addition, 8 items from 15 items of feminine gender performativity were also found, namely (1) emotional; (2) charming; (3) loving beautiful things; (4) loving romantic story; (5) careful; (6) jealous; (7) sensitive; and (8) talkative. The gender duality that carried out by Kim Bok Joo then affects the life of the character Kim Bok Joo such as receiving punishment from others in the form of humiliation and stigmatization, as well as being punished from within her who is shackled by binary gender to experience conflict gender identity and insecurity. The performativity found in the drama proves that gender expression is not absolutely owned by a particular gender identity. In addition, feminine and masculine gender expression by Kim Bok Joo that is repeated and processed from time to time shows that gender is unstable and can undergo changes.
