Konflik Sosial dalam Novel Selendang Pelangi Karya Soenjoto (Kajian Sosiologi Sastra)

Penelitian ini menggunakan novel Selendang Pelangi karya Soenjoto sebagai objek material dan teori sosiologi sastra Ian Watt sebagai objek formal. Novel ini menggambarkan kondisi sosial disertai dengan konflik-konflik yang terjadi di Surabaya pada tahun 1960-an. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengungkapkan latar sosial cerita serta konflik sosial yang terjadi di dalam novel Selendang Pelangi meliputi wujud konflik sosial, penyebab terjadinya konflik sosial, dan penyelesaian konflik sosial. Teori sosiologi sastra Ian Watt digunakan untuk menganalisis novel Selendang Pelangi. Teori ini digunakan untuk mengungkap seberapa jauh novel Selendang Pelangi menggambarkan keadaan masyarakat pada masa itu, sesuai dengan salah satu aspek dalam teori sosiologi sastra Ian Watt, yaitu sastra sebagai cermin masyarakat. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif, dengan teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan teknik baca dan catat. Dari hasil penelitian ditemukan bahwa novel Selendang Pelangi karya Soenjoto dibangun oleh sejumlah unsur fiksi dengan memberikan fakta-fakta sosial di daerah Surabaya pada sekitar tahun 1960-an dan memuat konflik-konflik sosial. Fakta-fakta sosial tersebut meliputi unsur-unsur masyarakat daerah Jawa Timur-an, kondisi sosial ekonomi Surabaya pada tahun 1960-an, penggambaran wisata pegunungan Pacet, dan penamaan jalan di kota Surabaya. Sementara itu, wujud konflik sosial yang terjadi berpusat pada salah satu keluarga kaya bernama R. Kastubi, meliputi kenakalan remaja, tindakan pelecehan, perselingkuhan, dan kriminalitas. Penyebab dari konflik sosial adalah karena kekayaan yang dimiliki R. Kastubi membuatnya berbuat semena-mena dan memberikan dampak buruk bagi keluarganya terutama anaknya, Otok. Cara penyelesaian konflik adalah dengan memberikan hukuman bagi Otok dan R. Kastubi karena sudah melakukan tindak pidana.

The study used the novel Selendang Pelangi by Soenjoto as a material object and used Ian Watt's theory of sociology of literature as a formal object. This novel describes social conditions accompanied by conflicts that occurred in Surabaya in the 1960s. This study aims to reveal the social background of the story as well as the social conflicts that happened in the Selendang Pelangi novel including the form of social conflict, the causes of social conflict and the way to resolve the social conflict. Ian Watt's theory of sociology of literature is used to analyse the novel Selendang Pelangi. This theory is used to reveal how far the novel Selendang Pelangi describes the situation of society at that time, according to one aspect of Ian Watt's theory of sociology of literature, which is literature as a mirror of society. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method, with data collection techniques using reading and note-taking techniques. From the results of the study, it was found that the novel Selendang Pelangi by Soenjoto was built by a number of fictional elements by providing social facts in the Surabaya area in the 1960s and containing social conflicts. These social facts include elements of the local community of East Java, the socio-economic conditions of Surabaya in the 1960s, the description of Pacet mountain tourism, and the naming of roads in the city of Surabaya. Meanwhile, the form of social conflict that occurred centred on one of the rich families named R. Kastubi, including juvenile delinquency, acts of harassment, affair, and crime. The cause of the social conflict was because of R. Kastubi's wealth which made him does bad things and gives bad impact on his family, especially his son, Otok. The way to resolve the social conflicts is to give punishment to Otok and R. Kastubi for committing a crime.
