Melintasi Modus Operandi Teknik Ludovico: Timbang-Takar Normalisasi dan Estetika Kekerasan serta Multiplicity of Consciousness dalam Film A Clockwork Orange (1971)

A Clockwork Orange (1971) berbicara tentang normalisasi kekerasan dan pendisiplinan masyarakat modern yang dimodifikasi dan dikendalikan melalui teknologi yang diproduksi oleh kendali legitimasi institusi. A Clockwork Orange ternyata masih sangat relevan untuk dibedah sampai hari ini, terkait konsep surveillance capitalism yang marak. Berkaitan dengan hal tersebut, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk: menelaah serta membedah peran dan implikasi Teknik Ludovico pada subjektivitas Alex, konstruksi sosial dalam film, dan multiplicity of consciousness Alex. Analisis menggunakan narasi estetika kekerasan, Dramaturgi Goffman, Pengetahuan-Kekuasaan dan Disiplin Panoptisme Foucault, dan Liquid Modernity Zygmunt Bauman sebagai pendekatan konseptual. Sedangkan metode analisis menerapkan analisis wacana multimodal yang terdiri dari: Functional Grammar Halliday, Visual Grammar Kress dan van Leeuwen, dan kerangka kognitif dari Cohen. Terdapat tiga temuan dari penelitian ini. Pertama, konstruksi sosial diproyeksikan melalui normalisasi kekerasan, salah satunya Teknik Ludovico, yang mengobjektifikasi kesadaran Subjek Alex. Upaya untuk mendisiplinkan Subjek membuka jalan untuk membongkar teknik-teknik kekuasaan yang digunakan oleh rezim. Terlebih saat mengaplikasikan Teknik Ludovico sebagai teknologi kuasa yang mendehumanisasi Subjek demi menjamin disiplin Subjek. Kedua, kekerasan hadir tanpa melukai audiens. Estetika kekerasan yang tercipta berhasil menyajikan pertunjukan kekerasan hanya dalam teks, penderitaan yang ditampilkan tidaklah nyata, sehingga penonton tidak sampai tersakiti oleh adegan yang ditonton. Ketiga, multiplicity of consciousness merupakan titik balik dalam melihat Alex yang memiliki kesadaran akan ruang dan strategi bertahan hidup serta cara bernegosiasi dengan kekerasan yang dialaminya.

A Clockwork Orange (1971) talks about the normalization of violence and the discipline of modern society modified and controlled through technology produced by institutionalized legitimate control. A Clockwork Orange is still very relevant to be discussed to this day, related to the concept of surveillance capitalism that is rife. In this regard, this study aims to: examine and dissect the role and implications of the Ludovico Technique on Alex's subjectivity, social construction in films, and Alex's multiplicity of consciousness. The analysis uses the aesthetic narrative of violence, Goffman's Dramaturgy, Foucault's Knowledge-Power and Discipline Panopticism, and Zygmunt Bauman's Liquid Modernity as conceptual approaches. While the analytical method applies multimodal discourse analysis consisting of Halliday's Functional Grammar, Kress and van Leeuwen's Visual Grammar, and Cohen's cognitive framework. There are three findings from this study. First, social construction is projected through the normalization of violence, one of which is the Ludovico Technique, which objectifies the consciousness of Subject Alex. Attempts to discipline the Subject paved the way for dismantling the regime's techniques of power. Especially when applying the Ludovico Technique as a powerful technology that dehumanizes the Subject to ensure the Subject's discipline. Second, violence exists without hurting the audience. The aesthetics of violence that was created succeeded in presenting violent performances only in text, the suffering displayed was not real so that the audience did not get hurt by the scenes they watched. Third, the multiplicity of consciousness is a turning point in seeing Alex who has an awareness of space and survival strategies and how to negotiate with the violence he experiences.
