Teater dalam Pusaran Perjuangan Kewargaan (Studi "Kewargaan Performatif" Seniman Teater Payung Hitam Bandung dalam Menghadirkan Protes Terhadap Pendisiplinan Aktivisme Warga di Akhir Orde Baru)

Penelitian ini membahas operasi politik dalam arena seni pertunjukan teater, yang ditelusuri melalui kasus keterlibatan seniman Teater Payung Hitam dalam pusaran perjuangan warga menentang otoritarianisme Orde Baru. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mempelajari strategi perjuangan yang dikembangkan seniman dalam merebut kembali posisi dan hak-hak warga yang tercerabut oleh penindasan rezim otoriter. Dalam penelitian ini, pertunjukan teater diposisikan sebagai salah satu arena ekspresi politik untuk memperjuangkan kebebasan berekspresi warga dan menghadirkan gugatan yang telah lama tersumbat. Penelitian ini akan mengambil fokus analisis pada tindakan resistansi yang dihadirkan oleh seniman Teater Payung Hitam melalui pertunjukan Kaspar dan Merah Bolong Putih Doblong Hitam. Penulis menggunakan konsep Performative citizenship yang diajukan oleh Isin (2017), konsep ini menaruh perhatian pada tindakan perjuangan kreatif yang ditempuh oleh warga (maupun non-warga) untuk dapat menuntut hak yang tercerabut atau belum secara legal diakui oleh rezim penguasa. Dengan pendekatan kualitatif dan pisau analisis Performative citizenship, diharapkan penelitian ini mampu mendedah substansi perjuangan dan tuntutan kewargaan terhadap otoritarianisme Orde Baru di dalam peristiwa pertunjukan teater. Dalam pelaksanaan penelitian ini, penulis menggunakan metode pengumpulan data berupa gabungan kajian lapangan, studi pustaka dan pendalaman atas arsip rekaman pertunjukan Kaspar dan Merah Bolong Putih Doblong Hitam Teater Payung Hitam. Penelitian ini menghasilkan sejumlah temuan. Pertama, dari sisi substansi perjuangan kewargaan, seniman dan warga bersama-sama memperjuangkan keberadaan hak atas informasi, mengklaim hak kebebasan berekspresi dan hak politik. Hak-hak tersebut aktif diperjuangkan sebagai landasan untuk membangun kehidupan politik demokratis yang menghargai pluralitas pandangan dan keberdayaan warga dalam urusan-urusan publik. Kedua, dari sisi tuntutan kewargaan, dua pertunjukan Teater Payung Hitam secara tebal menyoroti praktik kekerasan Orde Baru yang menggusur ruang-ruang bertumbuhnya aktivisme warga seperti komunitas pers dan gerakan pro-demokrasi. Di dalam peristiwa pertunjukan, seniman Teater Payung Hitam turut memasukkan secara simbolik ekspresi perlawanan nonkooperasi sebagai lawan tanding dari mekanisme pendisiplinan warga yang dicanangkan Orde Baru.

This study discusses political operations in performing arts through the involvement of Payung Hitam artists against the authoritarianism of the New Order. This research was conducted to study the struggle strategies developed by the artists in reclaiming the positions and rights of citizens who were uprooted by the oppression of the authoritarian regime. In this study, theater performances are positioned as one of the arenas for political expression to fight for citizens' freedom of expression and present a lawsuit that has been blocked for a long time. This research focused on the analysis of the resistance action presented by Teater Payung Hitam artists through the performance of Kaspar and Merah Bolong Putih Doblong Hitam. Performative citizenship proposed by Isin (2017) was used to describe the creative struggle actions taken by citizens (and non-citizens) to claim rights that have been uprooted by the ruling regime. With a qualitative approach and performative citizenship analysis, it revealed the content of the struggles and claim of citizenship against the New Order authoritarianism in theatrical performances. Data collection methods was a combination of field studies, literature studies and study of archive recordings of the performances of Kaspar and Merah Bolong Putih Doblong Hitam Teater Payung Hitam. The results were, first, in terms of the content of the civic struggles, artists and citizens are jointly fighting for the existence of the right to information, claiming the right to freedom of expression and political rights. These rights were actively fought for as the basis for building a democratic political life that respects the plurality of views and the empowerment of citizens in public affairs. Second, in terms of civic claims, the two performances of Teater Payung Hitam highlighted the New Order violent practices which displaced spaces for growing citizen activism, such as the press community and the pro-democracy movement. In the event of the show, the artists of Teater Payung Hitam also symbolically included expressions of non-cooperative resistance as a counter-match to the citizen disciplinary mechanism proclaimed by the New Order.
