Keunikan Tokoh dan Penokohan dalam Novel Anak Gembala yang Tertidur Panjang di Akhir Zaman karya A. Mustafa

Masalah penelitian ini adalah tokoh dan penokohan dalam novel Anak Gembala yang Tertidur Panjang di Akhir Zaman karya A. Mustafa. Alasan pemilihan novel ini sebagai objek material karena keunikan tokoh dan penokohan di dalamnya. Keunikannya terletak pada protagonis dengan tiga penamaan, konflik-konflik di antara tokoh-tokohnya, hubungan antartokoh, dan hubungan antarunsur yang saling berpengaruh. Dalam penelitian ini dipilih teori struktur novel untuk menganalisisnya. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif analisis. Metode ini dilakukan dengan cara mendeskripsikan fakta-fakta tokoh dan penokohan, berupa tokoh, motivasi tokoh, hubungan antartokoh, dan hubungan antarunsur dalam novel yang kemudian unsur-unsur itu dianalisis. Hasil penelitian ini adalah sebagai berikut. Pertama, keunikan penamaan protagonis terletak pada tiga penamaan, yaitu Rara Wilis/Mbok Wilis, Suko Djatmoko Purwo Carito/Pak Suko/Pak Wo, dan Babi Lumpur. Tiga penamaan tersebut saling berhubungan satu sama lain dengan beberapa tokoh lainnya. Tokoh terdiri dari protagonis, antagonis, tokoh bawahan utama, dan tokoh bawahan tambahan. Kategori tokoh dalam novel terbagi menjadi dua, yaitu tokoh bulat/kompleks dan tokoh datar/sederhana. Kedua, motivasi tokoh dalam novel dibedakan menjadi motivasi dasar dan motivasi spesifik. Motivasi dasar Rara Wilis/Mbok Wilis adalah ingin terlihat cantik seperti ibunya dan mengobati patah hati akibat laki-laki. Motivasi spesifik Rara Wilis/Mbok Wilis adalah berdandan menyerupai layaknya seorang perempuan, melakukan suntik silikon, dan bertingkah gemulai. Dalam novel ini, motivasi protagonis berhubungan dengan tokoh-tokoh lain. Ketiga, hubungan antartokoh dan antarunsur. Hubungan antartokoh dalam novel saling berkaitan. Hubungan antarunsur di dalam novel adalah hubungan tokoh dengan alur, tokoh dengan latar, tokoh dengan tema, dan tokoh dengan judul yang saling koheren.

This research concerns the characterization of characters in Anak Gembala yang Tertidur Panjang di Akhir Zaman by A. Mustafa. This research aims to see the uniqueness of the characters of the novel, by examining the main protagonists three names, the conflicts within its characters, the relationship between characters, as well as how other elements influence and are influenced by other elements. To achieve the goal of this research, the researcher applied the theory of the structural analysis of fiction. The method employed throughout the research will be the descriptive analysis method. This will be used to describe findings of the characters and the characterizations by the characters, characters motivations, characters relations, and other influencing elements in the novel. The findings of the study were: First, the uniqueness of main protagonist names, Rara Wilis/Mbok Wilis, Suko Djatmoko Purwo Carito/Pak Suko/Pak Wo, and Babi Lumpur. Those three names influence and are influenced by other characters. The characters consist of protagonist, antagonist, supporting characters, and additional characters. All characters in the novel are divided into two categories, round characters (complex) and flat characters (relatively uncomplicated). Second, characters motivations are differentiated into basic motives and specific motives. Rara Willis/Mbok Wilis basic motive is wanting to look as beautiful as her mother and treating a broken heart caused by a man. Rara specific motives are dressing herself up to look like a woman, getting silicone injections, and behaving in a flirtatious way. The main protagonist motives are related and influencing other characters. Third, the relations between other characters and other elements. The characters of the novel influence and are influenced by other characters. The influencing elements of the novel consist of relations between the characters and the plot, the characters and the setting, the characters and the main topic of the novel, and the characters and the novel title.
