INFORMATION SEEKING BEHAVIOR DAN PERILAKU MEMILIH DENGAN CANDIDATE IMAGE SEBAGAI VARIABEL MODERASI (Studi Kasus Pada Pemilih Pemula di Pilkada Kabupaten Sleman 2020)

Pemilih pemula memiliki peranan penting sebagai agen sosialisasi politik untuk generasi berikutnya. Berdasarkan pengamatan sebelumnya, pilihan pemilih pemula dilandasi oleh faktor ideologis dan identitas politik yang kuat terhadap kandidat, Penelitian ini bertujuan unutk mengetahui peranan candidate image sebagai variabel moderasi dalam hubungan perilaku memilih dan information-seeking behavior pada pemilih pemula. Penelitian ini melibatkan 170 responden dengan usia 17-19 tahun. Tiga skala yang digunakan, yaitu skala perilaku memilih, skala information-seeking behavior, dan skala candidate image. Hasil menunjukkan perilaku memilih dan information-seeking behavior saling berkorelasi positif (R2 = .406; p < .001) dan candidate image tidak memiliki efek moderasi terhadap perilaku memilih dan information-seeking behavior.

Beginner voters have a significant role as agents of political socialization for the next generation. Based on the author's observations, the choice of beginner voters depends on ideological factors and a strong political identity towards the candidate. This study aims to determine the role of candidate image as a moderating variable in the relationship between voting behavior and information-seeking behavior in beginner voters. This study involved 170 respondents aged 17-19 years. Three scales are used, namely the scale of voting behavior, the scale of information-seeking behavior, and the scale of candidate image. The results showed that voting behavior and information-seeking behavior were positively correlated (R2 = .406; p < .001) and candidate image did not have a moderating effect on voting behavior and information-seeking behavior.
