Serupa yang Berseberangan; Representasi Identitas Grup K-Pop Cross Cover Dance "Poison"

2021 | Tesis | MAGISTER SOSIOLOGIMenirukan koreografi seni tari idol group perempuan asal Korea Selatan, atau biasa disebut cross cover dance yang dilakukan oleh Poison, dimana seluruh anggotanya adalah laki-laki, menjadi fenomena yang terdampak atas merebaknya budaya populer K-Pop di Indonesia. Adapun penelitian ini bertujuan untuk (1) mengetahui peran budaya populer K-Pop dalam merepresentasikan identitas anggota Poison, dan (2) mengetahui representasi identitas soft masculinity yang diwacanakan oleh anggota Poison. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode dengan pendekatan fenomenologi. Teknik pengumpulan data meliputi wawancara, observasi, dokumentasi, dan catatan lapangan. Objek penelitian adalah lima orang anggota Poison, yang terdiri dari dua founder, dua anggota senior, dan satu anggota junior. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah wawancara fenomenologis dengan proses wawancara yang semi-terstruktur. Teknik pengolahan dan analisis data yang digunakan meliputi (1) mengumpulan data, (2) mereduksi data, (3) merefleksikan data, (4) mendeskripsikan data, dan (5) menginterpretasikan data. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, peran budaya populer K-Pop dalam merepresentasikan identitas anggota Poison meliputi (1) penentuan pendidikan dan karir, (2) penentuan prioritas, (3) penentuan keeksistensian, (4) pemahaman nilai dan makna, dan (5) pengolahan kepribadian. Dengan peran yang melatarbelakangi itulah, representasi identitas Poison akhirnya dimunculkan. Ketertarikan terhadap feminitas menuntun mereka kepada wacana soft masculinity, yang dalam prosesnya dituntut untuk memainkan tanda dan makna. Hal inilah yang akhirnya menghasilkan representasi soft masculinity, dimana wacana antara maskulin dan feminin berada dalam satu raga. Perdebatan panjang antara apa yang harus sang maskulin dan sang feminin tampilkan, sudah tidak relevan lagi. Karena bagaimanapun, kekayaan ragam tanda dan makna ini bisa dimiliki dan dikuasai oleh keduanya. Dimana sisi maskulin dan feminin dengan kadar yang berbeda-beda dapat berpadu menjadi satu tanpa memperdebatkan hakikat biologisnya.
Imitating the dance art choreography of female idol groups from South Korea, or commonly known as cross cover dance that performed by Poison, where all the members are male, is a phenomenon that affected by the spread of K-Pop popular culture in Indonesia. This research aims to (1) determine the role of K-Pop popular culture in representing the identity of members of Poison, and (2) to determine the identity representation of soft masculinity that is discouraged by members of Poison. This study uses a method with a phenomenological approach. Data collection techniques include interviews, observation, documentation, and field notes. The research object is five members of Poison, consisting of two founders, two senior members, and one junior member. The data interview technique used was phenomenological interviews with semi-structured interviews process. Data processing and analysis techniques used include (1) collecting data, (2) reducing data, (3) reflecting data, (4) describing data, and (5) interpreting data. Based on the research results, the role of K-Pop popular culture in representing the identity of members of Poison includes (1) determining education and career, (2) determining priorities, (3) determining existence, (4) understanding values and meanings, and (5) personality processing. With all that kinda of background, the representation of Poison's identity finally emerged. Their fascination with feminity leads them to the discourse of soft masculinity, which in the process is required to play so many signs and meanings. This is the ultimately results in a representation of soft masculinity, where the discourse between masculine and feminine is blended in one body. The long debate between what the masculine and the feminine should present is irrelevant. Because after all, this rich variety of signs and meanings can be owned and controlled by both. Where the masculine and feminine sides with different levels can be combined into one without arguing about their biological nature.
