Analisis Fragmen Keramik pada Temuan Pantai Sungai Nyalo, Sumatra Barat (Kajian Bentuk dan Motif Hias)

Temuan ratusan fragmen keramik di Pantai Sungai Nyalo, kabupaten Pesisir Selatan, merupakan temuan yang sangat berarti bagi pengembangan ilmu arkeologi maritim di Sumatra Barat. Temuan fragmen keramik tersebut tersimpan di dalam kantor wali nagari Sungai Nyalo tanpa adanya tindakan lanjut, sehingga belum diketahui sejarah dibalik temuan tersebut. Temuan keramik dalam kondisi yang tidak utuh dan berbentuk fragmen kecil hingga besar, mengharuskan dilakukan penelitian mendasar. Pelbagai penelitian dapat dilakukan terhadap temuan keramik di Pantai Sungai Nyalo, salah satunya adalah kajian bentuk dan motif hias. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk merekonstruksi bentuk utuh dari fragmen keramik dan mengetahui tipe-tipe motif hias pada keramik. Metode penelitian yang digunakan penulis dalam penelitian ini adalah induktif kualitatif, serta menggunakan pendekatan tipologi. Hasil penelitian ini adalah terdapat tipologi bentuk yang berbentuk piring, mangkuk dan gelas. Tipologi motif hias terdiri atas motif flora, fauna, pemandangan, religi, geometris dan inskripsi. Fragmen keramik temuan di Pantai Sungai Nyalo diidentifikasi merupakan keramik Cina, Vietnam, Thailand, Belanda dan Inggris pada periode sekitar abad 15 hingga abad 19. Fragmen keramik tersebut berasal dari beberapa kapal yang tenggelam di wilayah pantai barat Provinsi Sumatra Barat, dan merupakan barang pribadi milik awak kapal.

The discovery of hundreds of ceramic fragments on the Sungai Nyalo Coast, Pesisir Selatan district, is a very significant finding for the development of maritime archeology in West Sumatra. The findings of the ceramic fragments were stored in the office of the Sungai Nyalo wali village office without any further action, so the history behind the findings is not yet known. The discovery of ceramics in an incomplete condition and in the form of small to large fragments, requires fundamental research. Various studies can be carried out on the findings of ceramics on the Sungai Nyalo Coast, one of which is the study of decorative shapes and motifs. This study aims to reconstruct the intact form of ceramic fragments and determine the types of decorative motifs on ceramics. The research method used by the author in this study is qualitative inductive, and uses a typological approach. The results of this study are that there is a typology of shapes in the form of plates, bowls and glasses. Typology of decorative motifs consists of flora, fauna, landscape, religious, geometric and inscription motifs. Ceramic fragments found on the Sungai Nyalo Coast have been identified as Chinese, Vietnamese, Thai, Dutch and British ceramics from the 15th to early 19th centuries. These ceramic fragments come from several ships that sank on the west coast of West Sumatra Province, and are private items belong to the crew.
