Perubahan Gaya Berpakaian Perempuan Muslimah: Studi atas Pengguna Baru Jilbab Besar di Kalangan Mahasiswi UGM

Skripsi ini membahas tentang trend penggunaan jilbab besar di kalangan mahasiswi Universitas Gadjah Mada. Dengan menggunakan Teori Strukturasi oleh Giddens, riset ini memusatkan analisis pada motif dan proses transformasi di kalangan pengguna jilbab besar. Riset ini menemukan bahwa terdapat beberapa macam motif yang melatar belakangi perubahan gaya berpakaian, yakni motif internal yang berasal dari dinamika personal serta motif eksternal yang berasal dari lingkungan sosial. Termasuk motif internal/ personal adalah hasrat spiritual dan upaya mencari jalan keluar atas berbagai permasalahan psikologis mereka. Sedangkan motif eksternal atau lingkungan sosial adalah pengaruh peer group, imitasi terhadap trend, dan pengaruh budaya popular. Sementara itu, proses transformasi yang dialami melalui perubahan antar-waktu dan perubahan ekspresi. Perubahan ekspresi ini lebih jauh terartikulasikan pada perubahan pandangan dan sikap menyangkut membatasi pergaulan dengan lawan jenis, hijrah dan nikah muda, serta mengakhiri hubungan pacaran.

This thesis discusses the trend of the use of large headscarves among female students at Gadjah Mada University. Using the theory of structuration Anthony Giddens, this research focuses on the analysis of the motives and transformation processes among large headscarves users. This research found that there are several kinds of motives that are the background of changes in clothing styles, namely internal motives that come from personal dynamics and external motives that originate from the social environment. Including internal/ personal motives are spiritual desires and efforts to find solutions to their various psychological problems. While the external motives or social environment is the influence of peer groups, imitation of trends, and the influence of popular culture. Meanwhile, the process of transformation is experienced through inter-time changes and changes in expression. This change in expression is further articulated in changes in views and attitudes concerning limiting association with the opposite sex, hijrah and young marriage, and ending dating relationships.
