REPRESENTASI IDEOLOGI RASISME DALAM TUTURAN TOKOH UTAMA FILM THE HELP; KAJIAN ANALISIS WACANA KRITIS

Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan Analisis Wacana Kritis (AWK) untuk menganalisis tuturan tokoh utama dalam film The Help guna mengetahui 1) ciri kebahasaan dalam tuturan tokoh utama yang memperlihatkan ideologi rasisme, dan 2) representasi ideologi rasisme dalam tuturan tokoh utama film The Help. Penelitian ini menggunakan teori Systemic Functional Grammar (SFG) untuk mengetahui ciri kebahasaan dalam tuturan tokoh. Hasil analisis ciri kebahasaan yang memperlihatkan ideologi rasisme dalam tuturan tokoh, memperlihatkan bahwa proses material merupakan proses yang paling banyak ditemukan dalam tuturan tokoh sedangkan proses wujud merupakan proses yang paling sedikit ditemukan dalam film The Help dan hanya ditemukan dalam tuturan Skeeter dan Hilly saja. Berdasarkan analisis modalitas, penulis menemukan terdapat penggunaan 8 modal dalam film The Help, di mana modal can dan will merupakan modal yang paling sering muncul dalam tuturan tokoh yang digunakan untuk menyatakan baik perintah, larangan, dan komitmen penutur. Analisis representasi ideologi rasisme dalam tuturan keempat tokoh utama menunjukan dalam film tersebut, terdapat ideologi rasisme diperlihatkan melalui penggunaan kata-kata tertentu yang merujuk pada sekelompok masyarakat. Berdasarkan analisis dialog tokoh utama, penulis menemukan bahwa Hilly dan Minny merupakan tokoh yang menunjukan ideologi rasisme baik melalui tuturan tokoh juga deskripsi tokoh lain terhadap kedua tokoh tersebut. Sedangkan ideologi egalitarianisme ditunjukan dalam tuturan tokoh Skeeter dan Aibileen, yang dapat terlihat dari tuturan kedua tokoh tersebut dan merupakan ideologi yang muncul akibat adanya tindakan rasis dalam masyarakat.

This research used Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) approach in analyzing The Help movie. The aims of this research are to find out 1) the linguistic features in the characters' utterances that show the representation of racism ideology, and 2) the ideology representation from main characters' utterances. This study employ Systemic Functional Grammar (SFG) theory to analyze and to find out the linguistic features in the characters' utterances. Based on the analysis of the linguistic features in the characters' utterances, the writer concludes that material process is the most used process in characters' utterances which shows that the speaker emphasize on the action taken in the utterances, while existential process is the least found process in the main characters' utterances and only found in Skeeter dan Aibileen's utterances. Based on the analysis of modality, there are 8 modals found the characters' utterances, where modal can and will are the most used modals in the characters' utterances, which are used to express prohibition, command, and speaker's commitment. The result of the representation of the racism ideology in the main characters' utterances shows that the racism ideology are shown by the used of certain words that refer to certain group of people. Based on the analysis of the main characters dialogue, the writer found that Hilly and Minny are the character that show racism ideology in their utterances and from the other characters description. Meanwhile, the representation of egalitarian ideology is found in Aibileen and Skeeter's utterances as a means of the resistance toward the racism ideology.
