PROSES TRUST-BUILDING PADA KOMUNITAS VIRTUAL: STUDI NETNOGRAFI KOMUNITAS THE OTAKU NETWORK

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui proses trust building di komunitas virtual. Komunitas virtual yang diteliti adalah komunitas berbasis facebook group bernama The Otaku Network. Penelitian dilakukan menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan netnografi (virtual etnografi). Sumber data berasal dari arsip komunitas, observasi dan fieldnote, wawancara serta diskusi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa interaksi yang terjadi di dalam komunitas menunjukkan trust berupa keterbukaan terhadap komunitas dan trust secara interpersonal. Keterbukaan didorong oleh adanya disinhibisi online dan faktor lain dari dalam komunitas seperti respon yang baik dan cepat serta terjaganya privasi. Trust interpersonal lahir dari pembentukan relasi antar sesama anggota. Pembentukan relasi dapat terjadi secara online maupun offline. interaksi yang baik membentuk relasi pertemanan sehingga terbentuk trust yang tinggi.

The aim of this study is to learn the process of trust building in virtual community. The virtual community studied in this research is a facebook group based community named The Otaku Network. The method used in this research is qualitative with netnography (virtual ethnography) approach. The result showed that interaction occured in the community contained trust in the form of self-disclosure to the community and interpersonal trust. Disclosure to the community was driven by online disinhibition and other factors from community members such as good advice, responsiveness and group's privacy policy. Interpersonal trust formed through relationship building among its members. Establishment of relations took place both online and offline. Good interaction forged a bond of friendship that leads to high trust.
