Wild Swans karya Jung Chang adalah novel tentang penguatan resistensi tiga perempuan menghadapi opresi sosial budayanya. Tiga perempuan tersebut dituntut demikian oleh instuisi dan emosi alamiah mereka. Ketiganya sosok yang berani melawan arus di tengah posisi tawar perempuan yang rendah. Tiap kali mereka menguatkan resistensi diri, tiap kali itu pula mereka mendapat tekanan kian kuat. Akhirnya, perjuangan tersebut menuai hasilnya, tidak sekedar bertahan untuk tetap hidup, tetapi bahkan mampu melahirkan sebuah generasi, khususnya generasi perempuan yang memiliki posisi tawar tinggi pada tahap berikutnya. Sebagaimana Henri Lefebvre menjelaskan mengenai produksi space, novel ini memiliki relevansi yang dalam terhadap praktik sosial mengenai perluasan penciptaan space sekaligus merupakan pengejawantahan praktik feminis. Tekanan yang dihadapi para perempuan itu sendiri dilihat oleh mereka dengan kacamata mereka sendiri dan dengan formulasi solusi dari mereka sendiri, tanpa peduli dengan ketaksetujuan dan bahkan perlawanan orang-orang di sekitarnya. Patut dicatat pula bahwa salah satu dari ketiga perempuan tersebut menulis. Tulisan adalah produk ekstrak dari perluasan space yang tak terbatas. Novel ini cermin penting bagi umat manusia, terutama para perempuan, dalam memperkuat resistensi diri di tengah gempuran opresi sosial budaya, baik di bawah otoritas patrialkal, institusi negara dan seterusnya. Peneliti menggali unsur-unsur novel secara intrinsik dan ekstrinsik, lalu dicermati dengan teori produksi space dan feminis. Faktor intrinsik novel tersebut bercerita mengenai perjuangan resistensi menghadapi opresi domestikasi era Si Nenek, menghadapi opresi institusi negara dalam diri Si Ibu dan terakhir adalah resistensi menghadapi penolakan menjadi terdidik dan melihat dunia global dalam diri Si Aku.

Wild Swans by Jung Chang is a novel that telling us about making resistence strength of three women in facing opression upon their social and culture circumstance. The three women are forced by their natural institution and emtion. Three of them are brave in againts that reality regarding for women position in minor class. Each they make resistence strength, each time too they get stronger opression. In the last, their fighting creates a good result, not only survive, but even they able to create a better new women generation passion in life based on their independent way. As Henri Lefebvre explains about production of space, this novel is in deep relevant into social practic in creating enlargement of spacial, also be used to fullfil of essence in feminism practic. The opressions that be faced by the women are be seen by theirself with their way of formulation in taking solution by their own and they do not care with people againts on their fighting. It is proper to put one of three women is that writer of the novel. A writing is a nucleus product from the unlimited enlargement of space. This novel is an important picture for human being, particularly for women, in making resistence strength in very strong opression in culture and social, in under patriarkhi authority, state institution and so on. The researcher digs novel elements on intrinsic and ekstrinsic side, then be seen by productin space theory and feminism. On the intrinsic and ekstrinsic side of the novel, it tells about resistence fighting in facing domestic opression in The Grandmother era, facing state institution opression in The Mother era and the last is a resistence in facing refusal becoming educated and seeing a global world on The Writer of the novel.
