Penelitian berjudul "Kicchin Karya Yoshimoto Banana: Pemaknaan A la Semiotika Riffaterre" ini bertujuan untuk memaknai karya sastra sebagai sistem tanda-tanda. Berhasilnya mencari makna novelet Kicchin dapat mengembangkan kepekaan sebagai pembaca, pengamat, dan peneliti untuk memahami makna yang ada dalam karya sastra sebagai fakta semiotik. Pencarian makna melalui semiotika Riffaterre dapat menghasilkan matriks, model, varian, hingga sampai ke tema, Di samping itu, penelitian ini juga menunjukkan bahwa yang dilihat, didengar, dan dibaca dari kehidupan, semuanya adalah tanda-tanda. Dunia ini penuh dengan tanda-tanda, tetapi tidak sesederhana huruf alfabet. Tanda-tanda ini lebih kompleks secara tak terbatas. Dengan menggunakan pendekatan semiotika Riffaterre untuk konkretisasi atau pemaknaan sebagai 'pisau' utama, penelitian ini juga menggunakan metode sosiologi sastra yang berdasarkan prinsip bahwa karya sastra (kesusastraan) merupakan refleksi masyarakat pada zaman karya sastra itu ditulis. Refleksi masyarakat Jepang yang ditunjukkan dalam karya Kicchin dianalisis dengan kaitan teori sastra. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa paradoks dan ironi, sebagai bahasa utama sastra modem, adalah konkretisasi ketaklangsungan ekspresi, yaitu pada penyimpangan arti {distorting of meaning) dengan menyatakan makna secara kebalikan. Sementara itu, pembacaan heuristik dan hermeneutik berflingsi untuk menghasilkan konkretisasi lainnya. Untuk kode sastra, penelitian ini menunjukkan dua vraisemblance atau cara (ways) yang digunakan dalam Kicchin, yaitu konvensi genre dan sikap natural terhadap konvensi genre. Hal ini dengan pengungkapan penggunaan fokalisasi a la shoojo man 'ga (girls comics). Eksplisitasi matriks, model, dan varian adalah langkah selanjutnya sehingga dicapai tema Kicchin. Di samping itu, pembuktian pendidikan-Ibu (Kyooikn-Mama) dan amae (dependence) sebagai hipogram aktual menunjukkan bahwa karya sastra dihasilkan dari perluasan matriks melalui bermacam hipogram ke dalam sebuah teks!

The research entitled "Kicchin The Banana Yoshimoto Work: Riffaterre's Semiotics Signification" purpots to signify the literary work as the system of signs. To look for the significance of Kicchin, a novelette, successfully can develop the sensitivity as the reader, the observer, and the researcher to understand the available significance in the literary work as the fact of semiotic. To search the significance through Riffaterre's semiotics can produce the matrix, model, and variant, through down to the theme. Else, this research also shows that is see, hear, and read from life, all of them are signs. This world is full of signs, but is not as simple as the alphabet letter. These signs are more complex in unlimited manner. Based on the Riffaterre's semiotics approach for the eoncretization or signifying as main 'knife', this research also use the sociology of literature method that based on the principle that the literary work (literature) is the reflection of the community in the time literary work was written. The reflection of Japanese community that was pointed out in the Kicchin, is analyze in the connection with the theory of literature. The results of the research shows that the paradox and irony, as the main language of modem literature, are the eoncretization from distorting of meaning with state the significance in opposite manner. In the meantime, heuristic and hermeneutic reading has a flmction of producing the other eoncretization. For the literary code, this research point out two vmisemblance or the method (ways) that was used in Kicchin, that is the conventions of a genre and the natural attitude towards the conventions of genre. This describes with focalization a la girls comics {shoojo man 'ga). Explicitly analyses of the matrix, model and variant is the further step so as to reach the Kicchin theme. Finally, this research ends to authentication education-mother (kyooiku-Mama) and dependence (amae) as actual hypogram in the sameness and differences relation which shows that the literary work is produce from the expansion of the matrix through various hypograms in a text.
