Aktivisme ARMY: Partisipasi Penggemar BTS dalam Gerakan Sosial Black Lives Matter 2020

Partisipasi BTS ARMY di dalam gerakan anti-rasisme Black Lives Matter merupakan hal yang belum pernah terjadi sebelumnya. Tulisan ini menganalisis partisipasi tersebut melalui kerangka teoritis politik pertikaian. BTS dan fandomnya sebagai sebuah situs sosial lintas-kultural menjadi tempat yang subur bagi terbentuknya berbagai klaim terhadap isu rasisme. Memungkinkannya Partisipasi ARMY di dalam Black Lives Matter dapat terlihat dari dua aspek penting, yaitu perantaraan dan apropriasi sosial. Mobilisasi ARMY menjadi mungkin berkat perantaraan yang dilakukan oleh berbagai akun-akun media sosial fandom, terutama para Influencer, akun galang donasi, serta inisiator gerakan. Proses apropriasi sosial di dalam ARMY telah terjadi melalui beberapa isu, diantaranya adalah isu rasisme internal, black music di dalam musik-musik BTS, serta politisasi BTS dan ARMY untuk mendukung BLM. Dua aspek tersebut saling berkelindan dalam memobilisasi para ARMY untuk berpartisipasi di dalam Black Lives Matter. Termobilisasinya para ARMY menunjukkan bahwa situs sosial non-politis bisa termobilisasi untuk mendukung sebuah agenda yang bersifat politis berkat kondisi-kondisi tertentu.

BTS ARMY's participation in the Black Lives Matter anti-racism movement is unprecedented. This paper analyses this participation through the theoretical framework of contentious politics. BTS and its fandom as a cross-cultural social site become a fertile place for the formation of various claims to the issue of racism. Enabling ARMY's participation in Black Lives Matter can be seen from two important aspects, namely brokerage and social appropriation. ARMY�s mobilisation became possible thanks to the intermediaries carried out by various fandom social media accounts, especially the Influencers, donation-raising accounts, and the movement initiators. The social appropriation process within ARMY has occurred through several issues, including the issue of internal racism, black music in BTS's music, and the politicisation of BTS and ARMY to support BLM. These two aspects are intertwined in mobilising ARMY to participate in Black Lives Matter. The mobilisation of the ARMY shows that, under certain conditions, non-political social sites can be mobilised to support an agenda that is political.
