West Java is one of the provinces with the highest positive cases of COVID-19 in Indonesia. The existence of the COVID-19 pandemic has forced the government to issue PSBB and PPKM policies that limit community activities and mobilization with the aim of breaking the chain of spreading the COVID-19 virus. The COVID-19 pandemic has changed the way people live a lot. One of them is in fulfilling the need for food and beverages where people prefer to make low contact (online) purchases. This study aims to determine the effect of food safety and consumer preferences on the buying of food and beverages by online interest in the West Java region. The sample in this research is people of productive age who live in West Java. The data collection method used is by using a questionnaire. The research method used is quantitative and comparative causal research to explain the causal relationship between the independent variables, namely food safety and consumer preferences, and the dependent variable, namely buying interest. The data analysis technique in this study is multiple linear regression analysis. The results of this multiple linear regression analysis obtained the equation Y = 9.348 + 0.154 X1 + 0.215 X2. The results of t test and F test showed that food safety and consumer preferences had a positive effect both partially and simultaneously on the interest in buying food and beverages by online. Based on the results of the R square test, it is known that food safety and consumer preferences have an effect of 35.9% on buying interest.
