Penelitian ini membahas tentang prinsip kesantunan dan fungsi tindak tutur. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan prinsip kesantunan Leech dalam novel Kirti Njunjung Drajat karya R.Tg. Jasawidagda dan mendeskripsikan fungsi tindak tutur yang terdapat pada data yang mengandung maksim kesantunan Leech. Teori yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah pragmatik. Metode yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah simak dan catat. Metode penyajian hasil analisis berupa deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil penelian menunjukkan ada lima maksim kesantunan Leech dan empat jenis fungsi tindak tutur dalam novel Kirti Njunjung Drajat.

This research aims to discusess the principle of politeness and speech act functions. The purpose of this research is to describe the principle of politeness of Leech's politeness in the novel Kirti Njunjung Drajat by R.Tg. Jasawidagda and describe the function of speech acts that contained in the data containing Leech's maxim of politeness. The theory used in this research is pragmatic. Data collection method used in this study are observation and recorded. The method of presenting the result of the analysis in the form of qualitative descriptive method. The result of the study revealed that there is five politeness maxims was discovered in a conversation and four types of speech act funtion contained in the novel Kirti Njunjung Drajat
