NOVEL GADIS KRETEK KARYA RATIH KUMALA: ANALISIS STRUKTUR ALUR

INTISARI Permasalahan pokok dalam penelitian ini ialah alur novel Gadis Kretek karya Ratih Kumala yang meliputi peristiwa-peristiwa, episode-episode, tahapan alur, tegangan, dan kesatupaduan. Pemilihan novel Gadis Kretek karya Ratih Kumala sebagai objek material penelitian ini didasarkan pada kenyataan bahwa Ratih Kumala, sebagai pengarang, mampu menampilkan alur yang estetis sebagai teknik bercerita dalam karyanya. Novel Gadis Kretek dipilih sebagai objek penelitian karena dianggap memiliki keunikan alur. Keunikan tersebut terletak pada peristiwa-peristiwa dan episode-episode yang tersusun secara tidak kronologis. Hal ini yang menjadi alasan penelitian berfokus pada alur dengan teori struktur alur menurut para ahli. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini ialah metode deskriptif analisis. Penelitian ini memperoleh hasil sebagai berikut. Pertama, hubungan kausalitas rangkaian peristiwa dan rangkaian episode dalam novel Gadis Kretek. Rangkaian peristiwa dan rangkaian episode memiliki hubungan kausalitas alur yang erat. Kedua, tahapan alur dalam novel Gadis Kretek. Alur dalam novel Gadis Kretek terbagi ke dalam dua jenis, yakni alur utama dan alur bawahan. Ketiga, tegangan dan kesatupaduan unsur alur dalam novel Gadis Kretek. Tegangan dalam novel Gadis Kretek terjadi karena peristiwa-peristiwa dan episode-episode disusun secara tidak kronologis sehingga menimbulkan tegangan dan ketidakdugaan alur dalam proses pembacaan oleh pembaca. Pengarang mampu menyuguhkan rangkaian peristiwa dan episode yang tidak kronologis tersebut secara padu sehingga menciptakan kesatupaduan antarunsur alur. ABSTRACT The main issue in this research is plot of the novel Gadis Kretek by Ratih Kumala which encompasses events, episodes, plot stages, suspense, and unity. The selection of Gadis Kretek by Ratih Kumala as the research object material is based on the fact that Ratih Kumala, as an author, able to present an aesthetic plot as a writing method in her creation. The Gadis Kretek was chosen as a research object because it was considered to have a unique plot. The uniqueness lies in the events and episodes which are arranged unchronological. This is the reason that research focuses on the plot with the theory of structure plot according to experts. The method used in this research is descriptive analysis. This research obtains the following results. First, the causality relationship between the series of events and the series of episodes in the Gadis Kretek. The series of events and the series of episodes has a tight causality relationship. Second, the plot stages. The plot in the Gadis Kretek divided into two types, the main plot and the subordinate plot. Third, the suspense and the unity of the plot element in the Gadis Kretek. The suspense in the Gadis Kretek occur because the events and the episodes are arranged unchronological which produce unpredictable plot in the process of reading by the readers. The author able to present the unchronological series of events and episodes solidly which create unity between the element of plots.
