Teknologi informasi dan komunikasi (TIK) sangat berperan dalam mempermudah kehidupan manusia. Salah satu bentuk perkembangan teknologi informasi dan komunikasi adalah dengan adanya internet. Internet memungkinkan setiap penggunanya untuk dapat mengunggah dan mengunduh informasi secara global. Internet membuat batasan ruang dan waktu dapat diminimalisir, dengan begitu komunikasi pun menjadi lebih mudah dilakukan di berbagai belahan dunia. Salah satu upaya untuk mengatasi persoalan kemacetan lalu lintas di kota besar seperti Jakarta adalah dengan dikembangkannya sistem informasi transportasi berbasis internet Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan sistem informasi transportasi berbasis internet yang telah disediakan oleh pemerintah serta mendeskripsikan pemanfaatan sistem informasi transportasi berbasis internet tersebut oleh masyarakat. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode penelitian kualitatif. Penelitian ini dilakukan di DKI Jakarta dengan mengambil wilayah sampel Jakarta Timur. Data primer diperoleh dari wawancara indepth interview dengan responden dan penyedia sistem informasi transportasi, sedangkan data sekunder diperoleh dari publikasi penelitian, makalah, surat kabar, publikasi instansi, artikel di internet serta studi literatur. Teknik analisis yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa TMC merupakan salah satu lembaga pemerintah yang menyediakan sistem informasi transportasi berbasis internet. Sistem informasi transportasi tersebut dibagikan melalui jejaring sosial berupa Twitter, Facebook dan Instagram. Ketiga jejaring sosial tersebut dimanfaatkan oleh masyarakat untuk berbagi informasi lalu lintas terkini, menyampaikan pengaduan, komplain, saran/masukan dan meminta bantuan kepada petugas lalu lintas guna menciptakan situasi lalu lintas yang lebih baik. Meskipun begitu belum semua masyarakat mengetahui akan keberadaan sistem informasi transportasi tersebut sehingga masih dibutuhkan sosialisai dan perbaikan pada sistem itu sendiri. Keberadaan sistem informasi transportasi tersebut dapat membantu mengurangi kemacetan tetapi belum dapat mengatasi kemacetan lalu lintas di Kota Jakarta.

Information and communication technology (ICT) plays an important role in facilitating human life. One form of the development of information and communication technology is the internet. The Internet allows any user to be able to upload and download information globally. The Internet makes the limitation of space and time can be minimized, so communication becomes easier to do in various parts of the world. One attempt to overcome the problem of traffic congestion in large cities such as Jakarta, is the development of Internet-based transport information system. This study aimed to describe Internet-based transport information system that has been provided by the government and to describe the use of Internet-based transport information system by the public. The method used in this study is a qualitative research method. This research was conducted in Jakarta by taking a sample area of East Jakarta. Primary data was obtained from in-depth interviews with respondents and provider of transportation information system, whereas the secondary data obtained from research publications, papers, newspapers, publishing agency, the article on the internet as well as the study of literature. The analysis technique used is descriptive qualitative. The results showed that TMC is a government agency that provides Internet-based transport information system. Transport information systems are distributed through social networks such as Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. These three social networking is used by the community to share the latest traffic information, complain, complaint, suggestion / feedback and asked for help from the traffic officer in order to create the traffic situation better. Nevertheless not all people know of the existence of the transportation information system that still needs socialization and improvements to the system itself. The existence of the transportation information system can help reduce congestion, but have not been able to overcome traffic congestion in Jakarta.
