KRITIK SOSIAL DALAM NOVEL MENUNGGU MATAHARI MELBOURNE KARYA REMY SYLADO: TINJAUAN SOSIOLOGI SASTRA

Penelitian ini berjudul "Kritik Sosial dalam Novel Menunggu Matahari Melbourne Karya Remy Sylado: Tinjauan Sosiologi Sastra". Objek formal dari penelitian ini adalah kritik sosial yang terdapat dalam novel. Sedangkan objek materialnya adalah novel yang berjudul Menunggu Matahari Melbourne karya Remy Sylado. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui sekaligus memahami gagasan kritik sosial yang terdapat dalam novel tersebut. Selain itu, penelitian ini juga bertujuan untuk melihat sejauh mana novel tersebut mencerminkan realitas masyarakat serta Jatar sosial pengarang dalam menulis karya sastra tersebut. Sesuai dengan tujuan penelitian tersebut, maka teori yang digunakan adalah teori sosiologi sastra Alan Swingewood. Dalam penelitian ini akan digunakan perspektif pertama dan kedua dari teori tersebut. Perspektif pertama memandang karya sastra sebagai dokumen sosial yang di dalamnya merupakan refleksi situasi pada saat karya sastra tersebut muncul. Dengan kata lain, sastra adalah cermin masyarakat. Perspektif kedua dari teori ini memandang sastra adalah cermin situasi sosial penulisnya. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa novel Menunggu Matahari Melbourne mampu mencerminkan kondisi sosial bangsa Indonesia sekaligus menangkap berbagai masalah yang ada di sekitamya. Realitas yang terjadi di masyarakat menjadi sumber penciptaan novel ini. Melalui karya ini, pengarang ingin menunjukkan kesenjangan antara harapan dan realitas yang terjadi di tengah masyarakat. Selain itu, penelitian ini juga menunjukkan bahwa Remy Sylado adalah pengarang yang peka terhadap masalah yang terjadi di sekitamya. la dengan tangkas mengangkat berbagai masalah bangsa Indonesia melalui novel ini. Sebagai pengarang, ia memiliki pandangan bahwa sastra harus memberi hiburan sekaligus harapan bagi pembaca Hal ini pula yang ia terapkan dalam menulis Menunggu Matahari Melbourne. Novel ini berusaha memotret realitas sekaligus melakukan kritik terhadap realitas yang tidak sesuai harapan. Novel ini memuat kritik sosial terhadap berbagai permasalahan bangsa, antara lain masalah kekerasan umat beragama, diskriminasi ras, korupsi yang membudaya, dan penyimpangan gaya hidup anak muda. Novel ini tidak hanya mengemukakan kritik sosial saja, melainkan memberi solusi terhadap berbagai masalah tersebut, tentu dengan sudut pandang pengarangnya. This study entitled "Social Criticism in the novel Menunggu Matahari Melbourne Melbourne by Remy Sylado: Review of Sociology of Literature." Formal object of this research is social criticism contained in the novel. While the material object is novel, entitled Menunggu Matahari Melbourne by Remy Sylado. This study aims to fmd out at once understand the idea of social criticism contained in the novel. In addition, thi s study also aims to see the extent to which the novel reflects the reality of society and the social background of the author in writing of such literary works. In accordance with the purpose of research, the theories used is the theory of literary sociology Alan Swingewood. This research will be used first and second perspective of the theory. The first perspective sees literature as a social document in which a reflection of the situation at the time of such literary works emerged. ln other words, literature is a mirror of society. The second perspective of this theory view of literature is a mirror of social situations author. The results of this study indicate that the novel Menunggu Matahari Melbourne could reflect the social conditions of the Indonesian nation and capture the various problems that exist in the vicinity. Reality is happening in society became a source of creation of this novel. Through this work, the author wanted to show the gap between expectation and reality that is happening in society. In addition, the study also showed that Remy Sylado is the author of which is sensitive to problems that occur in the vicinity. He deftly lifted the problems of Indonesia through this novel. As an author, he has the view that literature should provide entertainment as well as hope for the reader. It is also he applied in writing Menunggu Matahari Melbourne. The novel is trying to capture reality as well as doing a critique of reality does not match expectations. The novel contains a social critique of the various nation's problems, among others, issues of religious violence, racial discrimination, entrenched corruption, and diversion of young lifestyle. The novel is not only the social criticism alone, but provide solutions to various problems, of course with the author's viewpoint.
