Biofortifikasi beras merupakan salah satu pendekatan
intervensi gizi pada tingkat populasi. Beras biofortifikasi dikategorikan
Eceran Tertinggi (HET) pemerintah. Hal ini menimbulkan kekhawatiran terkait
keterjangkauan harga produk tersebut bagi konsumen. Penelitian ini bertujuan
untuk mengidentifikasi alasan konsumen membeli beras biofortifikasi,
mengestimasi kesediaan membayar (willingness to pay/WTP), serta menganalisis
biofortifikasi.
Rice biofortification is intended as one approach to
nutritional intervention at the population level. Biofortified rice is
categorized as a specialty rice product that is not subject to the government’s
highest retail price (HET) regulation, raising concerns regarding its price
affordability among consumers. This study aimed to identify consumers’ reasons
for purchasing biofortified rice, estimate their willingness to pay (WTP), and
analyze the factors influencing WTP for biofortified rice in Sleman Regency.
The study involved 51 consumers of biofortified rice in Sleman Regency. The
methods included descriptive analysis to identify consumers’ reasons and WTP,
the Contingent Valuation Method (CVM) to estimate WTP, and multiple linear
regression to analyze the factors influencing WTP. The results showed that: (1)
health benefits were the primary reason for consumers’ willingness to pay for
biofortified rice; (2) the estimated WTP was Rp21,804/kg, with a consumer
surplus of Rp1,227/kg compared with the average market price of biofortified
and fortified rice; and (3) perceived health benefits, income, and age
significantly affected consumers’ WTP for biofortified rice.
