The aim of this qualitative research is to analyze the conceptual metaphor use in the interview of Piers Morgan and Bassem Youssef about the dispute of Israel and Palestine. A qualitative descriptive research approach is used, and systematic methods are employed to gain conceptual mapping and to investigate conceptual mapping effects on geopolitical narratives, which are Conceptual Metaphor Theory (CMT) and Metaphor Identification Procedure (MIP). The results show sixteen different conceptual metaphors, e.g., WAR IS BUSINESS, HUMANS ARE ANIMALS, PEACE IS A PHYSICAL STRUCTURE, etc. Moreover, two contradictory ways of speaking were detected. One, the language of political institutions deliberately redefines violence in relation to the purpose they serve, which establishes a numerical cost to the loss of human life, without deeming it to have any inherent human value, thus ignoring moral responsibility. On the contrary, the interviewee uses radical ontological metaphors as a satirical device to deconstruct this story and unveil the moral irrationality of war. To sum up, the study shows that media metaphors are active cognitive elements that help to create assessments of the importance of human life in the context of war.
