The increasing number of tourist visits to Karimunjawa National Park poses an ecological pressure that may threaten the carrying capacity of the coastal area. This study aims to estimate the preferences and willingness to pay (WTP) of domestic tourists for efforts to improve the quality of the marine ecosystem in Karimunjawa. This research utilizes primary data collected through questionnaires from April to May 2026. The analytical method employed is the Discrete Choice Experiment (DCE), incorporating attributes such as beach cleanliness, coral reef conservation, environmental education facilities, and additional conservation costs. The data were subsequently analyzed using the Conditional Logit model to identify the effect of each attribute and to calculate the Marginal Willingness to Pay (mWTP). The estimation results indicate that all environmental improvement attributes have a positive and significant effect on tourists' decisions in choosing the offered conservation programs. These findings reflect the awareness and willingness of tourists to participate in preserving the marine ecology, which serves as the main tourist attraction in Karimunjawa National Park. The coral reef conservation attribute yields the highest mWTP value compared to other attributes, indicating that tourists prioritize coral reef preservation, primarily due to the perceived decline in coral reef quality within the tourism area. The attributes of beach cleanliness and environmental education facilities also obtain positive values, although their preference levels are lower than that of coral reef conservation. Overall, the results of this study highlight the importance of strengthening marine ecosystem conservation policies to support sustainable tourism in Karimunjawa National Park.
