Pemanfaatan residential PV
Skor sentimen dihasilkan
melalui model Bidirectional Encoder Representations from Transformers
Teknologi, subfaktor Performance mendominasi pembahasan, sedangkan Supportive
Factors (?1,55) menjadi sumber sentimen paling negatif melalui kata kunci Grid

The utilization of residential PV
in Indonesia remains far below its potential, and the gap between potential and
actual implementation calls for an understanding of the factors shaping public
acceptance. This study analyzes public discourse on the adoption of residential
PV in Indonesia through keyword-based YouTube comments across economic,
technological, and social dimensions. A total of 10,444 Indonesian-language
comments from 35 videos spanning the 2020–2024 period were processed through
multi-stage preprocessing and translated into English, then classified using a
keyword dictionary into three factors and eleven subfactors extracted from the
study by Shakeel et al. (2023). Sentiment scores were generated using the
Bidirectional Encoder Representations from Transformers (BERT) model and
indicated a negative public sentiment trend. The Technology factor was the most
dominant, accounting for 73.40% of the discussion with a sentiment score of
?0.90, followed by the Economic factor (16.77%; ?1.81) and the Social factor
(9.84%; ?0.83). At the sub-factor level, the economic dimension exhibited the
most consistent negative polarity, with the Cost sub-factor being the most
frequently discussed topic, while Income (?2.33), Returns (?2.19), and
Financing (?2.14) exhibited more extreme sentiment through prominent keywords
such as Investment, Financial Risk, and Liquidity, which represent concerns
regarding initial costs, the risk of losses, and cash constraints. Regarding
the Technology factor, the Performance subfactor dominated the discussion,
while Supportive Factors (?1.55) were the source of the most negative sentiment
through the keywords Grid Stability and Maintenance. The Social factor was
relatively more moderate, with Values as the most frequently discussed
subfactor and Societal (?1.07), particularly the keyword Corruption, as the
most negative element. These findings confirm that financial barriers and
uncertainty regarding economic benefits are the most prominent public concerns
regarding the adoption of residential rooftop PV systems in Indonesia.
