The waste problem in Yogyakarta Special Region (DIY) is increasingly pressing due to the limited capacity of the Piyungan Landfill (TPST Piyungan). Therefore, the government has implemented the Jogja Olah Sampah (JOS) program, which reduces upstream pressure through changes in consumption behavior. The circular economy concept aligns with this effort by encouraging resource reuse through the principles of reduce, reuse, and recycle. One example of the circular economy (reduce, reuse, recycle) implementation at the MSME level is Akkar Juice Bar's bottle return program, which encourages consumers to return glass bottles for reuse by offering incentives. However, fluctuating bottle return rates indicate that consumer participation is not optimal. This study aims to analyze the direct and indirect influence of environmental awareness, functional value of product quality, price value, attitudes, subjective norms, and perceived behavioral control on consumer intention to participate in the bottle return program, as well as recommend strategies to maximize the program's potential. This study employed a quantitative approach, involving 133 respondents selected using a purposive sampling technique. Data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS). The findings indicate that increasing consumer participation intentions in the bottle return program is most effective through strengthening environmental awareness, functional value of product quality, subjective norms, and price value. Recommendations are made by strengthening these four aspects to maximize the potential of the bottle return program.
