Redesain Sekolah Berasrama MAN Insan Cendekia Serpong di Tangerang Selatan dengan Basis Analisis Menggunakan Teori Spiral Of Silence

MAN Insan Cendekia Serpong merupakan salah satu sekolah negeri terbaik di Indonesia berdasarkan nilai UTBK 2022 dan dikenal memiliki siswa berprestasi hingga tingkat internasional. Sebagai sekolah berasrama, sekolah ini menggabungkan fungsi ruang tinggal dan ruang belajar dalam satu sistem yang memiliki tekanan akademik tinggi. Namun, tidak semua siswa mampu beradaptasi dengan baik tuntutan tersebut. Ketidaknyamanan spasial, terutama akibat sistem zonasi dan desain ruang yang tidak inklusif, menjadi salah satu akar permasalahan yang berdampak pada performa akademik dan kesehatan mental siswa. Analisis berdasarkan teori Spiral of Silence menunjukkan bahwa struktur ruang yang tidak memberikan ruang aman untuk ekspresi diri dapat memperkuat isolasi sosial dan menekan kesejahteraan psikologis siswa, terutama mereka yang berada di posisi non-dominan secara sosial maupun kultural.

Tujuan laporan ini adalah merumuskan strategi desain dan konsep perancangan ulang kawasan MAN Insan Cendekia Serpong agar mencerminkan visi, misi, dan nilai institusi melalui solusi arsitektural yang adaptif dan kontekstual. Arsitektur tidak hanya diposisikan untuk memenuhi kebutuhan fungsional, tetapi juga sebagai wadah pembentuk dinamika sosial dan identitas. Strategi desain dirumuskan dengan mempertimbangkan tiga aspek utama: akademik (kebutuhan ruang fleksibel untuk eksplorasi dan pengembangan diri), sosial (penciptaan ruang aman dan inklusif untuk ekspresi personal), dan lingkungan (respon ekologis terhadap tapak dan konteks kota). Konsep “Living Ecosystem for Learning, Expression, and Sustainability” menjadi pendekatan utama dalam perancangan ulang ini, yang bertujuan menghadirkan lingkungan belajar yang mendukung keseimbangan antara kebutuhan fungsional, psikososial siswa, dan ekologis lingkungan.

MAN Insan Cendekia Serpong is one of the most notable public boarding schools in Indonesia based on 2022 UTBK exam scores. The school is known for producing high-achiever students with accomplishments at international levels. As a boarding school, it integrates both living and learning spaces into an academic-high-pressure environment that demands rapid adaptation from its students. However, not all students adjust easily to the demands. One of the root issues identified is spatial discomfort caused by zoning systems and architectural designs that fail to support students’ diverse social, psychological, and cultural needs. Analysis using the Spiral of Silence theory reveals that the lack of safe spaces for personal expression can lead to social isolation and psychological distress, particularly among those who do not fit the dominant norms, which in turn negatively impacts academic performance.

This report aims to synthesize data and analysis to formulate design strategies and a conceptual framework for the architectural redesign of MAN Insan Cendekia Serpong. The goal is to create a built environment that not only reflects the institution's vision, mission, and values, but also responds to the complexity of student life within the boarding system. Architecture is positioned not only as a provider of functional spaces, but also as a medium that shapes social dynamics and supports identity formation. The proposed design strategy is based on three key aspects: academic (providing flexible spaces that support personal growth and exploration), social (creating inclusive and psychologically safe environments), and environmental (ecological respond to site and urban context). The design is guided by the concept of “Living Ecosystem for Learning, Expression, and Sustainability,” which aims to create a harmonious space where students can thrive academically, express themselves freely, and live within an environmentally conscious setting.
