Pertumbuhan
Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials) 1993, serta
mengevaluasi kinerja struktur berdasarkan parameter mekanistik.
Bearing Ratio tanah dasar. Tahapan analisis meliputi perhitungan beban lalu
life mencapai 19 tahun sebelum terjadi permanent deformation. Nilai
parameter kinerja meliputi Nf (beban repetisi izin) sebesar 668,2 × 10? ESAL (Equivalent
Single Axle Load), Nd (beban repetisi izin) rutting sebesar 149,12 ×
10? ESAL, dan Nd deformasi sebesar 28,52 × 10? ESAL. Total tebal perkerasan
yakni sebesar 63,5 cm.
The
growth of traffic volume on the Jogja–Bawen toll road requires accurate
flexible pavement thickness design to ensure structural performance and optimal
transportation service. The main issue in pavement design lies in the
difference between empirical and mechanistic-empirical approaches, which may
lead to variations in pavement thickness and design life. This study aims to
design flexible pavement thickness using the MDPJ 2024 and AASHTO 1993 methods,
and to evaluate structural performance based on mechanistic parameters.
The
research method used is a comparative study based on secondary data analysis,
including average daily traffic (ADT) and subgrade California Bearing Ratio
(CBR). The analysis stages consisted of cumulative traffic load calculation in
CESAL (Cumulative Equivalent Standard Axle Load) units for a 20-year design
life, pavement thickness design using the MDPJ 2024 catalog and the AASHTO 1993
Structural Number (SN) method, and evaluation of critical strains related to
fatigue cracking and rutting using a mechanistic approach.
The
results show that the MDPJ 2024 method with the heaviest vehicle distribution
provides the most optimal structural performance, with a remaining life of 19
years before permanent deformation occurs. The performance parameters include
allowable fatigue repetitions (Nf) of 668.2 × 10? ESAL, allowable rutting
repetitions (Nd) of 149.12 × 10? ESAL, and allowable deformation repetitions of
28.52 × 10? ESAL. The total pavement thickness is 63.5 cm. The resulting SN
value is approximately 12, or 2.2 times greater than that of the AASHTO 1993
method. This difference is influenced by the design approach, where MDPJ 2024
applies a mechanistic-empirical concept that considers vehicle distribution and
Vehicle Damage Factor (VDF), making it more representative and more consistent
with KENLAYER analysis in predicting service life and structural distress.
