Aplikasi komunikasi berbasis suara menghadirkan relasi interpersonal digital yang ditandai oleh intensitas interaksi dan keterbukaan diri yang cepat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memahami praktik self-disclosure serta konstruksi kedekatan relasional dalam interaksi pengguna HelloYo. Penelitian menggunakan paradigma konstruktivisme dengan pendekatan kualitatif melalui metode etnografi digital. Data diperoleh melalui observasi ruang obrolan dan wawancara mendalam, kemudian dianalisis menggunakan teori komunikasi hiperpersonal dari Joseph B. Walther. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa keterbukaan diri pada tahap awal dimaknai sebagai mekanisme partisipasi sosial, sementara keterbukaan emosional berkembang seiring intensitas komunikasi. Kedekatan yang terbentuk tidak hanya dipengaruhi isi pesan, tetapi juga kontinuitas interaksi, respons afektif, dan penggunaan simbol relasional dalam platform. Relasi romantis digital dipahami sebagai konstruksi komunikasi yang berlangsung bertahap melalui interaksi yang intens dan selektif. Selain itu, dinamika relasi menunjukkan adanya perbedaan dalam keterlibatan dan pemaknaan hubungan. Dengan demikian, kedekatan dalam komunikasi digital dipahami sebagai hasil konstruksi makna yang dimediasi teknologi.

Voice-based communication apps foster digital interpersonal relationships characterized by the intensity of interaction and rapid self-disclosure. This study aims to understand self-disclosure practices and the construction of relational closeness in HelloYo user interactions. The study employs a constructivist paradigm with a qualitative approach using digital ethnography. Data were collected through chat room observations and in-depth interviews, then analyzed using Joseph B. Walther’s theory of hyperpersonal communication. The results indicate that self-disclosure in the early stages is interpreted as a mechanism for social participation, while emotional openness develops alongside the intensity of communication. The closeness that forms is influenced not only by message content but also by the continuity of interaction, affective responses, and the use of relational symbols within the platform. Digital romantic relationships are understood as a communication construct that unfolds gradually through intense and selective interactions. Furthermore, the dynamics of the relationship reveal differences in engagement and the interpretation of the relationship. Thus, closeness in digital communication is understood as the result of a technology-mediated construction of meaning
