Penyusunan prototype atlas sekolah secara elektronik sebagai penunjang mata pelajaran Ilmu Pengetahuan Sosial untuk sekolah dasar (Studi kasus kabupaten Sleman)

Anak adalah masa depan bangsa, untuk itulah perlu penanaman wawasan lingkungan sejak dini karena hal tersebut akan berpengaruh pada kebijakan mereka dalam pengambilan keputusan. Atlas merupakan salah satu alat bantu yang sering digunakan dalam penanaman wawasan lingkungan pada anak, namun sayangnya seringkali pembuat atlas kurang memperhatikan kebutuhan dan selera anak sehingga minat anak terhadap atlas cenderung menurun. Menumbuhkan minat anak terhadap atlas sangat penting, mengingat atlas merupakan media pengenalan anak terhadap lingkungan mereka, untuk itulah perlu dilakukan penelitian untuk mengetahui seberapa besar minat anak terhadap atlas serta faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhinya. Pembuatan Atlas Elektronik untuk Sekolah Dasar bertujuan untuk membuat suatu prototype atlas yang dapat memfasilitasi kebutuhan dan selera anak, serta dapat digunakan sebagai penunjang dalam proses belajar mereka. Pelaksanaan penelitian ini terdiri dari tiga tahapan, tahap pertama membagikan kuisioner untuk mengetahui faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi minat anak terhadap atlas, serta untuk mengetahui atlas seperti apakah yang mereka inginkan; tahap kedua adalah menyusun atlas elektronik, yang meliputi pengumpulan data, desain isi atlas dan desain struktur atlas; tahap ketiga adalah mengujicobakan atlas elektronik yang telah disusun kepada anak dan membagikan kuisioner kedua yang kemudian dianalisis untuk mengetahui sejauh mana atlas elektronik tersebut dapat diterima oleh anak-anak. Hasil penelitian yang dilakukan pada 9 SD di kabupaten Sleman menunjukkan bahwa sebanyak 87.37% siswa SD berminat terhadap atlas, dan faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi minat mereka terhadap atlas adalah lingkungan tempat tinggal, lingkungan sekolah, jenis kelamin, ketertarikan terhadap atlas, pemahaman isi atlas, dan frekuensi penggunaan atlas dalam pelajaran IPS. Hasil analisis terhadap kuisioner kedua menunjukkan bahwa Atlas Elektronik dapat diterima dengan baik oleh anak dan minat anak terhadap Atlas meningkat menjadi 97.14%.

Children are the future of a nation; therefore it's important to prepare them with the environmental knowledge since their early age that will influence them as the decision maker in policy making then. Even though an atlas is often use to visualize the environmental knowledge for children, the fact that the atlas maker had paid less attention related to the necessity and the interest of the children, however had made their interest to atlas decreased. In order to acknowledge the interest of children and factors considering that an atlas as a promotion tool for children in visualizing the environment knowledge, it's important to build their interest about atlas. The purposes of the electronic atlas for elementary school were to create an atlas prototype which could meet the necessity and the children interest, and also could be used as a supporting tool in their studying process. The research accomplishment consisted of three steps, the first was distributing questionnaire to identify the factors influencing children using atlas, and to acknowledge the kind of atlas they wanted to; the second was to compile the electronic atlas consisting data collection, atlas content design and atlas structure design; the third was tested the electronic atlas result to children and distributed the second questionnaire which then analyzed to acknowledge the children acceptation to the electronic atlas. The result of the research had been applied that in 9 elementary schools of Sleman regency showed that 87.37% of students had been attracted to the electronic atlas, and factors influenced their interest to it were the home environmental, school environmental, gender, the interest of atlas, the atlas content understanding, and the frequency of the atlas use in social science class. The analysis result for the questionnaires displayed that the electronic atlas were well accepted by children and their interest to electronic atlas had increased 97.14%.
