The subjects were divided into two groups, 27 parents received video-based education and 27 parents received brochure-based education. The research instrument consisted of pretest and posttest questionnaires with 11 items to measure parents’ knowledge of mouth breathing habits in children. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon test for within-group comparisons and the Mann-Whitney test for between-group comparisons.The results showed a significant increase in parents’ knowledge in both groups (p < 0>(3,30 ± 1,20) compared to the brochure group (2,33 ± 1,54). Kebiasaan bernapas lewat mulut (BLM) pada anak adalah pola pernapasan abnormal akibat ketidakmampuan melakukan pernapasan hidung sehingga udara masuk melalui mulut dan berpotensi menimbulkan gangguan pada perkembangan dentofasial dan orofasial anak. Pengetahuan orang tua berperan penting dalam upaya pencegahan dampak jangka panjang kebiasaan ini. Upaya peningkatan tingkat pengetahuan orang tua dapat dilakukan melalui penggunaan media edukasi seperti video dan brosur. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membandingkan pengaruh media edukasi video dan brosur terhadap tingkat pengetahuan orang tua mengenai kebiasaan BLM pada anak.

Penelitian eksperimen semu menggunakan rancangan pretest-posttest control group design dengan subjek 54 orang tua siswa kelas II SD Negeri Percobaan 2 Yogyakarta. Subjek dibagi menjadi dua kelompok, 27 orang menerima intervensi penyuluhan (edukasi) dengan video dan 27 orang dengan brosur. Instrumen penelitian berupa kuesioner pretest dan posttest dengan 11 butir pernyataan untuk mengukur tingkat pengetahuan orang tua mengenai kebiasaan BLM pada anak. Data dianalisis dengan uji statistik Wilcoxon untuk perbandingan dalam kelompok dan uji Mann-Whitney untuk perbandingan antar kelompok.
