The
dissertation titled ‘Islamic Religious Extension Strategies to Strengthen The
Consistency of Faith among Dayak Meratus
Indigenous Converts in Loksado Subdistrict, Hulu Sungai Selatan Regency’ aims
to address the following research objectives: 1) To describe and explore the
socio-cultural background of the Dayak Meratus indigenous community as a target
for da'wah; 2) To describe and explore the forms of faith inconsistency and the
reasons for the inconsistencies among the Muslim converts in the Dayak Meratus
indigenous community; 3) To analyze the strategies of Islamic religious
counseling/da'wah conducted by counselors or preachers towards Muslim converts
in the Dayak community in the Meratus Mountains.
The
research method used in this study employs an ethnographic approach,
specifically micro-ethnography, which aims to depict the culture of the Dayak
Meratus indigenous community as an emic perspective target of counseling/mad’u,
by examining parts or elements of that culture related to counseling
activities. This type of research is qualitative-investigative. According to
qualitative research principles, data collection involves: 1) Immersive
observation (observer as participant); 2) In-depth interviews; 3) Focus Group
Discussions/FGD; 4) Documentation. This research uses the Miles and Huberman
data analysis model, which consists of: 1) Data collection; 2) Data reduction;
3) Data display; 4) Verification. The validity of the data is ensured through:
1) External validity (Credibility), with components such as sufficient field
research time, triangulation, negative case analysis, member checks,
references, peer or expert reviews; 2) Transferability; 3) Dependability; 4)
Confirmability.
The
results of this study indicate that the implementation of the Islamic religious
counseling program for Muslim converts in the Dayak Meratus community,
organized by four elements: the Ministry of Religious Affairs, the Indonesian
Ulama Council, Islamic Educational Institutions, and community-based Islamic
teaching groups, has encountered various challenges and obstacles, ranging from
technical issues (distance, accommodation, facilities and infrastructure) to
socio-economic and cultural problems, which have prevented the desired outcomes
of the Islamic religious counseling activities from being fully achieved.
